Ivy
We landed in Ireland a few hours ago. We have today off and a show tomorrow. Niall decided that he wanted to visit home for a few hours. I wanted to see my mum and James. I've never had a good relationship with my dad. Gibsie made me nervous. The urge to be around him depended on his mood. Most days it was not fun.
"Aren't you excited" I asked Niall as he was driving us.
"Yes. I've missed my parents." He answered. "Are you okay?" He looked at me
"Yeah I'm fine."
"I'm just a little worried. You and your dad aren't on the best terms and Gibsie is a wildcard."
"Niall, it'll be okay. I've avoided my dad practically every visit home. I'm sure Gibsie won't be horrible."
"Okay. If anything happens and we need to leave, just ask." He assured me
"I will, thank you."
We talked about the most random things for the rest of the time. I still couldn't believe we weren't 16 sitting in our rooms laughing. He did exactly what he had promised me all those years ago. Even after 12 years barely talking, I could still count on him.
"Here we are." He said as we pulled up to my place. He was dropping me off then going to his mum's.
"Thank you. I'll text if I need you." I said getting out of the car.
I walked up to my childhood house, memories playing in my head. I knocked on the door, waiting for someone to answer. I could see my dad's silhouette through the window. Great, I thought to myself. He opened the door and his smile dropped.
"Why are you here?" He asked
"I'm in Ireland for the tour and had today off. I just wanted to see you guys" I said in a small voice. I felt like I was child again getting yelled at.
"Well I'll tell your mum to come outside. I don't want you in my house." He spat. I nodded and sat on the step waiting.
"Oh honey, I've missed you!" My mum yelled running out the door.
"Hey mum." I gave her a sad smile.
"Honey what are you doing here?" She asked looking behind her into the house.
"We have today off from tour and I wanted to come see you."
"Well, today is a bad day. He's in a bad mood and your brothers aren't here."
"Oh." I could feel the tension. "Do I need to leave?" I asked
"Yeah. Honey, I'm so sorry. I love you. Come back as soon as you are able to." She said kissing my forehead.
"Okay I love you too." I said walking away.
I didn't have anywhere to go and I didn't want to bother Niall. He hasn't seen his family in a long time. I found a bench at the local park and sat down. Tears were streaming down my face as I put in my headphones and started listening to music. The song "To Philly' started playing and I smiled thinking of Holden. What was he doing right now? He was probably having a better day than me. My phone buzzed with a text.
Niall: How's everything going?
Ivy: It's great. I got to see mum!
Niall: Perfect, if anything happens let me know.
Ivy: I will. Enjoy your time with your family.
I didn't have the heart to steal him from his family. I could suffer through a few hours of being alone. I could only buy myself lunch with the amount I had. I walked to my favorite cafe in town and sat down. I had some lunch and sat for an hour. I still had some time to kill so I kept walking around.
