#16 | TROUBLE
— final love song , iland2
" Oh, you've got to be kidding me "

"HAEUN! GET IN the car!" Haeun's dad yelled, as Haeun shoved the remains of her blueberry waffles into her mouth, pouring a cup of orange juice over it.

She slung her bag over her shoulders before hurrying out of the house.

This is not how she intended to start the day on her first day of school.

Plopping herself down on the passenger seat, she fastened her seat belt and her dad immediately drove off. She glanced at herself in the mirror, taking out her favourite lipgloss and applying a thorough coat over her lips.

"The grades better be looking good this year," Haeun's father spoke, in his usual gruff tone. "Of course dad," Haeun said, puckering her lips before placing her lipgloss back in her pocket.

Her hair was done into a long braid, and she had a layer of light makeup on. Her black and white uniform had grown a bit tight over the holidays, but nevertheless complimented her curves.

"And stay out of trouble," her dad added. "It's not like I get into trouble anyways, Dad" Haeun reassured, leaning against the window, eyes fixated on the passing cars and tall skyscrapers.

Daffodil High-school was a private school, not too prestigious but still provided a strong foundation for those who aspired to be great in the future. It was built by the Americans, which was why many people wanted their children to study there, as the classes were taught in a mixture of Korean and English.

"I know you don't get into trouble very often," her dad said, looking at her before turning his gaze back onto the road in front of him. "But with recognisability comes responsibility."

Haeun sighed. In her dads eyes, she would never be enough. "I understand where you are coming from, Dad. I promise that I will be on my utmost best behaviour" she said, and could swear a flicker of a smile appeared on her dads face.

"Good."

It didn't take long for Cha Haeun to spot her little group of friends once she was inside school. She could hear Taki's rants from a mile away.

They were standing in front of the lockers in one of the corridors, and Haeun felt a surge of excitement rush through her body as they waved to her.
