"Pack your things. We're going back."

"Right now?" Jennie asked Lisa. When she had returned to the penthouse last evening, the blonde wasn't there. She had no idea what time Lisa had come up because she fell asleep waiting for her. And now the woman was telling her that they would be going back to the city.

"Yes. I'll be waiting in the car."

Jennie nodded and went to get ready. Packing was easy since she had only brought an overnight bag. She then followed Lisa downstairs and got into the car.

"Is there a problem at the office?" Jennie asked.

"None."

"Where were you yesterday?"

"Why do you ask?"

"Is it wrong to ask? I was just wondering why you left me at the spa. Was there something wrong?"

Lisa smirked, a mocking tone in her voice. "Why, sweetheart, would you have liked it if I stayed there with you? You know what could've happened."

Jennie swallowed. Of course, she knew what could have happened. And that was what was bothering her. Lisa was a tall walking contradiction, which made her harder to understand. The Thai always acted superior, as if she already owned Jennie, but did nothing to claim what she declared was hers.

That uncertainty made Jennie even more unsure. She couldn't predict what the blonde would do next. Was she waiting for Jennie to lower her defenses? Then why not yesterday?

"Why didn't you?" Jennie asked, looking out the window.

"Dammit, I don't know, okay?" Lisa hit her hand on the steering wheel. "I don't know, alright? I have no idea! You were there, you were offering it, and I... I... Shit!" The blonde then hit the gas and drove.

Once again, Jennie was stunned by Lisa's outburst. Was she angry at Jennie or at herself? The way Lisa was acting up, she couldn't tell. Jennie chose to remain quiet for the entire drive.

She realized it was fortunate that nothing had happened. She silently scolded herself. Why did she have to open her mouth and ask? Maybe because it rattled her self-confidence. She had stood almost naked in front of this gorgeous blonde, and she had just walked away. What was wrong with her body? Was she not pretty enough for Lisa? And now, what was wrong with her way of thinking? She was concerned about her ego and self-confidence instead of being glad that nothing sexual had happened between them! Wasn't she insisting that she would never be attracted to Lisa, that she was straight?

All the things that had been happening in her life were driving her crazy. That was the only reason she was behaving like this. It was becoming too much for her to handle all at the same time.

She glanced at Lisa's side profile. Her jawline was really something, she had to concede. But the blonde's face showed no expression. Jennie just sighed.

"How are things in the office, sonnyeo?"

Jennie looked up from playing the piano keys to her halbeoji. She smiled, showing her gummy grin.

"Everything's fine, halbeoji. How's Dad?"

"He's doing okay. The psychiatrist is good. Your mother is doing better. She's in the kitchen cooking lunch."

Jennie just smiled. She missed those times when they had no gambling and mob related problems. Things back then were simpler—her dad wasn't gambling, her mother was healthy. Now, they were doing okay all things considered, but they were still happier back then.
