ROSÉ
At exactly 8pm Rosé and Jisoo were on a plane to New York. They were seated next to each other; with Rosé by the window.
Rosé still couldn’t believe that her ex-girlfriend was sitting beside her. How had she not known that Jisoo was Lisa Manoban’s best friend? She had met Seulgi, but how was she supposed to know that Jisoo and Lisa knew each other?Clearly, she had been right before—she knew nothing about her ex, which strangely caused her heart to clench with a familiar pain that still lingered.
No, she wasn’t going to get sucked into that. She had more pressing matters to think about. She needed the problem to be resolved as soon as possible, so no matter how hard it was or how startling it felt to have Jisoo here, she just needed to deal with it.
“How much do I owe you for the ticket?” she asked without even glancing in the older woman’s direction.
"Just try to hold your tongue throughout the flight, and we'll call it even, Chaeyoung. Oh no, wait—Rosé." The dig wasn’t lost on her, so she looked at the brunette. The older woman’s expression was one of such boredom and disinterest that it annoyed Rosé. She couldn’t stop herself from responding.
"I'm going to pay you. I don't want to owe you anything."
"But you already owe me, and I don’t care about that anymore. All I want from you is for you to stay quiet."
"Why in the world would I give you that satisfaction?"
"Why indeed? This is going to be one long flight." Jisoo took out her headset and put it on.
Rosé felt dismissed, and it bothered her. Why did the pretty brunette still affect her so much? She pulled out her phone and started reading some of the blogs she followed and checking her Instagram. She tried reading an e-book she had, but she couldn’t understand any of it. She was worried about the whole Robert situation, yet she couldn’t help but feel more anxious about how aware she was of her seatmate.
She tried to sneak a glance at Jisoo, who was munching on some roasted almonds. The dark-haired beauty looked so cute while eating. Rosé remembered that it was Jisoo’s favorite; she used to buy those for her. She was about to smile when she stopped herself. Why would she smile because of this woman?
She scowled instead. That’s when Jisoo looked in her direction and caught her. Jisoo took off her earplugs.
"You better stop with the attitude," the older Korean woman said, annoyed and serious.
"What attitude? You better stop. I’m not doing anything." She was embarrassed to have been caught, but she couldn’t help but snap back. She detested herself for not being able to come up with a better reply, which made her sound like a child.
"I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the kind of attitude that got you into this mess in the first place." Jisoo lectured her, eyebrows furrowed.
"How dare you? You know nothing about what really happened, so shut up! Did it even occur to you that I might have been... r-raped?" she hissed, her voice low but seething with anger.
The infuriating woman went still for a second but then smirked at her. "You? No way."
"What exactly do you mean by that? That I’m not desirable enough? Are you insulting me?"
"You got taken advantage of and you're clueless about it?"
"You don’t understand!"
"Damn right, I don’t. Enough of this nonsense, Ch—Rosé." Jisoo put her earplugs back in.
