Lisa had been restless while sitting in her office chair at the Kim Corporation. Technically, it was now Bambam’s office since he was the new representative of the Manobans. She had been the one to ask Bambam for the favor, not knowing that his presence would now be the main source of her headache and annoyance.
A few months ago, during Jennie’s birthday, she had almost given in and gone to her. She had constantly thought about the brunette, trying not to call her, and nearly went crazy. Seulgi and Jisoo had started getting worried about her because all she did was work. She hadn’t paid them any attention, eating, sleeping, and working—trying not to think about the woman who still made her irrational and crazy.
She had left Jennie alone. She had given her freedom. That was what Jennie wanted, right? She was no longer trapped with her. Lisa had been trying to stick to her plan, except for that day—Jennie’s birthday—when she had bought flowers, chocolates, and tons of different gifts she thought the Korean would like. She had been torn all day about whether she should go and give them to her or not. In the end, she hadn’t sent them because she knew she was no longer welcome in Jennie’s life.
Yet here she was again. Damn. Why couldn’t she leave Jennie alone? The answer was simple—she still loved the brunette. So much so. But she knew Jennie saw her as a monster, and it still hurt her to remember that the woman she loved despised her and thought the worst of her.
Jennie had been right; they had separate lives now. Lisa had been letting her go. She had actually planned to never bother the brunette again, not until she received a phone call from Jennie’s sister asking for help. She wanted to assist Rosé. Despite everything that had happened between her and Jennie, she couldn’t let her down. She had been supposed to go to America, but her plans changed when her grandfather mentioned how Bambam was enjoying his time at Kim’s company because of Jennie. She had panicked. It was irrational, but she knew she needed to see Jennie first. She needed to see her pronto.
Despite promising Rosé, she decided to stay and asked her Jisoo-unnie to help Jennie’s sister on her behalf. The oddest thing happened as she relayed the situation to her best friend. Jisoo's initial reaction made Lisa think she would decline. But when she mentioned asking Seulgi for help instead, Jisoo had gotten angry.
One look at Jennie’s sister’s info profile made Jisoo go rigid. Those were tell-tale signs, but she knew her Jisoo-unnie wouldn’t tell her anything even if she asked. There was definitely something there. She trusted Jisoo with her life. And considering the sort of issues that needed to be fixed, Jisoo was more than capable of handling them. She was Jisoo Kim—not only the prime minister’s daughter with a lot of connections, but also someone who knew how to be ruthless.
Lisa wished the fucker Robert would be dead too, if he ever did something worse than taking Rosé’s photos. She shook her head. Jennie would be devastated if she found out, and she didn’t want that to happen. So far, according to Jisoo, it was being taken care of, which pacified her a bit.
What was she doing there? Lisa asked herself.
She had absolutely no business being there. But there she was. She even tried third-wheeling on Bambam and Jennie’s date!
How dare Jennie try to move on when Lisa couldn’t even function well enough with the single thought of her? She had tried staying away from her. Yet seeing Jennie talking and smiling with someone else made her feel a strange need to ensure Jennie knew she was hers. Jennie couldn’t be with Bambam; he couldn’t make her happy.
Lisa knew that she was behaving badly. Crazy, even. Everything that came out of her mouth was without logical basis, and she ended up blurting out hurtful things to Jennie. She told the brunette she was hers without explanation. That she owned her. Of course, Jennie would get mad! She knew that was uncalled for. Yet she couldn’t explain to the Korean that she loved her. And she didn’t plan on telling her anytime soon; if Jennie found out that she had her heart too, that would be the last straw. The brunette would have all the power to wound her again. She couldn’t have that.
