No reason to panic

“WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOUR NECK!?”
Mary’s eyes shot open, and the first thing she saw was Clary’s face mere inches away from hers.
“WHAT!” Mary screamed and jumped, startled by Clary’s sudden exclamation. The two Slytherins hit their heads together as Mary shot up from her bed, trying her best to cover her neck. Clary whined in pain and rolled on the floor, whilst Mary hobbled towards a mirror.
As she reached the mirror, she was met with a reflection of a young dark-haired, green-eyed woman whose neck was decorated with dark red and purple marks. Mary’s blood turned cold as she realised what her playtime with Severus had caused.
“Shit”, Mary mumbled and touched one of the marks with her fingers. Soon Clary’s reflection joined her in the mirror, her blue-grey eyes observing the marks with a mixed expression on her face.
“We need to cover those”, she stated after a while, looking around for her makeup purse. Alison, who had also been woken up by Clary’s scream, snorted and rolled her eyes.
“I don’t think makeup is gonna do that”, she remarked, eyeing the dark marks all around Mary’s neck.
A new rush of panic washed through Mary’s body.
“But there’s no reason to panic”, Alison added, a teasing smile on her lips. She went to the cupboard and pulled a black turtleneck shirt out.
“Wear this”, she said and threw the shirt to Mary.
“Thanks”, said Mary, unfolding the shirt and pulling it over her head. She found a pair of black tights and a dark blue skirt and put them on as well. Alison gave an approving nod as Mary presented her outfit to her.
“Good, no one will know what’s under that shirt”, she said, holding her index finger under her chin. “But please, do ask Severus to be more careful”, she added.
Mary only blushed and gave an embarrassed nod.

After Clary and Alison had finished dressing up, the three Slytherins headed to the Great Hall for breakfast. Alison had been rather curious about Mary’s Saturday with Severus, but for obvious reasons, Mary tried to avoid too specific details. The way Clary had been eyeing both Mary and Severus, who was sitting at the High Table, told Mary everything she needed to know. Clary found the situation extremely difficult.
Mary decided to not tell her friends about her plans about seeing Severus today as well, because she didn’t want to make Clary more uncomfortable than necessary. Clary would have a Quidditch practise in the evening, so Mary would go to Severus’ personal chamber while Clary would be in the practise. Mary knew Alison would cover for her if she didn’t manage to come back before Clary.

“So, what are you two lovebirds planning on doing tonight?” asked Alison, a wicked smile on her lips. Clary had left only minutes ago, but Alison had started immediately bombarding her with questions.
“Well, not what you’re thinking, at least”, Mary remarked, but gave the black-haired Slytherin a knowing grin. In reality, even Mary didn’t know what Severus had in mind. He had never before invited her into his personal chamber in such a way. Sure, Mary had been there a couple of times before, but one of those times was during an emergency and the two other times were only spontaneous, brief visits.
“Well, just remind him to not give you hickeys. At least not in any visible places”, Alison chucked and winked. Mary rolled her eyes but couldn’t help a hot sensation rising up to her cheeks.
“I’ll go now”, Mary mumbled and started making her way towards the exit of the Girls’ Dormitory.
“Have fun”, Alison said and turned her blue eyes towards the book she was reading. “But not too much fun.”

As Mary reached the corridor in which Severus’ personal chamber was located, she could feel her heart starting to beat faster.
Only a couple more steps later she was standing in front of Severus’ door, trying to catch her breath.
“Shit…”, Mary grunted, lifted her fist and knocked on the door.
