Slipped, huh?

The Hogwarts Express whistled as it finally arrived at the Hogsmeade Station, hauling a load of enthusiastic students within its carriages. Proud fifth year Slytherin's, Mary and Clary, alongside with their Gryffindor comrades, Emily and Fred and George Weasley jumped out of the train, excitement gleaming in their eyes. Although all of them were eagerly waiting for the upcoming school year, one of them was waiting for something else with an even bigger anticipation.

Mary hadn't seen Severus all summer. Even though they had been exchanging letters the entire time, Mary was rather nervous to meet Severus in person after what had happened between them just before the school year was about to end.

"So, you already nervous about the O.W.L.s?" asked Clary, who sat down next to Mary in the carriage, which then started moving towards the castle.

"No, not yet", Mary replied, admiring the landscape surrounding them, "but ask me again after Christmas", she added, causing Clary and Alison, who was sitting next to her, burst out laughing.

After the carriages had arrived by the Hogwarts castle, Mary, Clary, and Alison waved Emily a goodbye as she joined a crowd of fifth year Gryffindors. Mary, alongside with Clary and Alison, entered the great wooden doors leading to the Entrance Hall of Hogwarts, where they would find another pair of majestic wooden doors, hiding the Great Hall behind them.

Just when Mary was about to sit down next to Clary at their usual spot at the Slytherin table, her eyes landed on something. Something that caused her entire body to freeze.

Mary had been too busy babbling with Clary and Alison to notice a certain person entering the room. The only person who's presence Mary had been truly craving for.

Severus had just arrived in the Great Hall and sat down on his chair at the High Table, when he too had noticed Mary standing by the Slytherin table.

Mary's dark green eyes locked with Severus' black ones, and for a couple of seconds, all they could do was just to stare at each other. Even though being together in the Great Hall, surrounded by all the other students, teacher and staff of the school wasn't the same as being alone in the comfort of Severus' classroom, it was better than being separated by miles after miles.

A part of Mary just wanted to stand there and drown into those dark and soothing eyes, but another part of her knew that she couldn't do that. In fact, she had to move, now. Otherwise, people would notice, and that was something she most definitely did not want to happen. So, with great efforts, she pulled her gaze away from Severus' and sat down on the chair.

"I see your feelings haven't changed", Clary, who had noticed the moment between her friend and the Potions Master, pointed out as Mary sat down next to her. Mary tried to shush her friend as her girlfriend was sitting opposite her, but it was useless. She has heard them.

"Don't worry, Mary. Clary told me everything during the summer break", Alison reassured, taking Mary's hand in hers. Mary, who wasn't exactly happy to hear the news, turned her gleaming green eyes to Clary.

"Sorry, sorry. I just, it kind of slipped. And then, I had to tell everything", Clary tried to defend herself.

"I won't tell a soul, I promise!" Alison declared. Mary looked at her for a short while before turning her eyes back to Clary.

"Slipped, huh?" Mary said, looking at Clary with a raised eyebrow. Clary squirmed under Mary's piercing gaze, her pale cheeks slowly turning red.

"Alright then", Mary sighed, realizing that there was nothing she could do about it. Sure, she wasn't happy to hear that Clary had spilled her secret after swearing to her that it would stay between them, but if it had to be someone, it was best that it was Alison.
