On the way back to the dorms, Katsumi is unusually quiet. Her argument with Bakugo made her realize that she's going to have to try harder to befriend Bakugo, and the only way for that to happen is to show him how strong she is, and how strong she is going to get. She is going to ask Bakugo to train with her. Katsumi knows that she is most likely going to get thrown on her ass, but she wants to show Bakugo that she is up for the challenge, and that she is not weak.
The bus stops and everyone piles out. Katsumi stays behind to talk to Bakugo. She knows that he is most likely irritated at her, but she has to talk to him.
Bakugo side eyes Katsumi. "Ugh if you have something to say, say it already."
"Bakugo, train me." Katsumi says bluntly. She knows that Bakugo doesn't like when people wastes his time, so she says it without hesitation.
"No." Bakugo says instantly. Katsumi stops and slumps over embarrassed. She gets herself together and catches up to him.
"Yes Bakugo, it wasn't a question."
Bakugo starts laughing. "You're an idiot if you thought I would train someone as weak as you."
"I'm not weak. You don't even know what I can do."
"And I want it to stay that way."
"You never know... I might be stronger than you." Katsumi knows that's a lie, but she knows that what she said will push Bakugo over the edge. Now he has to fight with Katsumi.
"I'M STRONGER THAN YOU AND YOU KNOW IT!" Bakugo yells, and veins pop out of his head.
"I guess you'll never know if you don't train with me." Just a little more, and Bakugo will have to accept.
"FINE. MEET ME TONIGHT AT 7 TO TRAIN. I'M GOING TO WHOOP YOUR ASS." Bakugo storms off.
"Yippie!" Katsumi thinks and jumps in the air. A serious expression washes over Katsumi's face though as she realizes she is going to have to do her hardest to even try to get one hit on Bakugo.
To pass the time, Katsumi looks into Bakugo. From watching him during training exercises, she has a good grasp on his quirk. She knows he likes to get close, but right now, her hand-to-hand combat isn't good enough compared to Bakugo's. Katsumi plans to stay back, and to make defensive moves to keep Bakugo away long enough for Katsumi to try to find an opening. Bakugo is relentless, so Katsumi is going to have to keep up with him. She's excited to finally train with him. Although chances of her getting a hit on him are slim, she's ready to blow off some steam.
7 pm rolls around, and Katsumi meets Bakugo at one of the training fields.
A couple of weeks ago, Katsumi's sheath and blades arrived. She's been practicing with them, trying to get used to have high-quality equipment to use while fighting. Now, with her blade, she can focus more heat without having to worry about getting burned. There's a special material at the hilt of her blade that allows her hands to not get burnt. Katsumi turned in a costume design. Her costume is a tight-fitting suit in black, that has gold hardware on it. There is shoulder armor and boots to provide extra protection and stability. On her back is a black sheath, to hold multiple of her blades at once. For decor, her shoulder gauntlets resemble flames, and an intricate flame design is subtly added to the suit. The material is made out of flame-resistant fabrics, and is lightweight to ensure maximum mobility. Katsumi feels confident now in her hero costume, instead of the UA P.E. uniforms.
"Ready to lose, weakling?" Already Bakugo's arrogance is showing, but Katsumi can't help but laugh.
"I don't know, are you?" Katsumi says in return. Suddenly, Bakugo rushes at her, readying his fists to strike first. Katsumi grabs one of her blades form her sheath, and instantly it is engulfed with bright, hot flames. To create a barrier between her and the incoming Bakugo, she slashes her blade in front of her, creating a wall of fire. Bakugo stops mid-attack, and jumps back as to not get burned. Bakugo huffs and jumps high into the air for an ariel attack. Since Katsumi's coustume is heat-resistant, she runs through her flames, without getting burned.
Katsumi takes another sword from her sheath, and directs her flame energy through that one. Now she is double-wielding her blades, waiting for Bakugo to attack. He uses his explosions to redirect himself towards Katsumi in the air. Jumping back so Katsumi can make room between him and her, she tries to calm down. This much action is making her giddy, but she needs to remain in control, or there will be consequences.
"Didn't know you could do that with those annoying blades of yours." Bakugo teases as he lands a couple of feet in front of Katsumi. She needs to quickly think of how to counterattack, before Bakugo can land a hit on her.
"It seems like you don't know a lot." Katsumi retorts. Bakugo quickly closes the gap and puts his palms up to set up an explosion in Katsumi's face. She quickly shields herself with her blades by making an "x" in front of her, trying to absorb most of the attack with her weapons. The explosion sends Katsumi flying back, landing on her back.
Without rest, Bakugo reaches Katsumi, but she rolls away. She does another "Inferno Shield" to allow her a moment to recollect her thoughts. She knows that she needs to keep Bakugo away, so she sets up a long-range attack, called "Flame Burst". She focuses the heat of her energy into the tips of her blades and thrusts forwards, aiming at Bakugo. The focused fire gets sent directly at Bakugo, leaving him surprised. The only people that know what her quirk can do are her closest friends, and Bakugo, unfortunately, doesn't fall in that category.
Without hesitation, Katsumi gets behind Bakugo and uses the pommel of her swords to hit Bakugo in the back. Although the move was smart, her arm strength is not strong enough to injure Bakugo. Bakugo doesn't react to the attack, and instead swings his arms around to whack Katsumi across the face. The sheer force of the hit made Katsumi fall, her head swirling around, causing her to see spots. She wasn't quick enough to shield, or run away, so she took an entire face-full of Bakugo's gauntlet.
On the verge of passing out, Katsumi makes an escape, crawling as far away from Bakugo as possible.
"What's the matter? Is the little girl going to pass out?" Bakugo laughs and walks slowly towards Katsumi. He takes his time, knowing how hard he hit her, and how hard it's affecting her. Ochaco's attacks aren't nearly this hard, so the attack left Katsumi astonished. Right when Bakugo reaches Katsumi, she stops crawling. She holds her hand up, motioning for Bakugo to stop. He just laughs, bending down to say cruel words.
"You're nothing but a weakling." Bakugo growls his words, making Katsumi's skin crawl. She looks up from the ground, and stares directly into Bakugo's narrow eyes. Insurmountable rage bubbles up inside Katsumi, and before she knows it, she kicks Bakugo right between his legs. He doubles over, grasping where Katsumi kicked him. He wasn't expecting such a low blow.
Katsumi slowly gets up and towers over Bakugo. "You underestimate me, Bakugo Katsuki." Katsumi doesn't consider this fight a win, just an expected turn of events. She knows that if Bakugo wasn't so caught up in gloating, he would've easily dodged Katsumi's kick.
From using all that fire, Katsumi gets light-headed with dehydration. She grabs her water from the side, and goes back over to Bakugo, who is still on the ground in pain. No matter how many punches he can take, getting kicked in the balls will still outweigh any other type of physical attacks.
Being a good sport, Katsumi reaches her hand down for Bakugo to take. Bakugo slaps her hand away and groans.
"I don't want your filthy sympathy." Bakugo continues to hold himself, turning side-to-side in pain. He still manages to say, "I want... a rematch. You... cheated." Katsumi knows what she did was disrespectful, she just couldn't stand his gloating. Besides, there could only be one gloater and it wasn't going to be him.
