After recollecting her thoughts, Katsumi leaves the bathroom and wanders down the hall until she reaches the cafeteria. Instead of hiding her face, she walks in with her head held up high. She doesn't care if people eye her, she knows that she belongs there. Katsumi spots Ochaco and Momo sitting down with a boy with spiky red hair and a big dorky smile on his face. It seems Katsumi reached them mid-conversation.
"...and that's what I was telling Bakugo" the boy trails off as Katsumi sits down next to Momo.
"I'm sorry. You can continue your conversation." Katsumi says. The red-haired boy turns to look at Katsumi.
"I'm Kirishima Eijiro. Nice to finally meet the girl who's been the topic of everyone's conversation." He smiles.
"I'm surprised you wanted to talk to me. You know, 'cause I didn't get here by strength alone."
"Nah, I don't care about that. I only care if you're a good person with a desire to help others." Katsumi smiles back at Kirishima and nods her head. "I'm sorry about being distant earlier. We've never had someone transfer from being homeschooled, on top of completing the entrance exam after everyone else. But you must have the desire to help others if you're here right?" Kirishima asks.
Katsumi nods her head, "Yes. My quirk awakened in a time of need, and that's why I have to become stronger."
Suddenly, two other classmates walk over to Katsumi's table. Kaminari Denki and a short girl, with hair in the shape of a bow. This is the time for Katsumi to show her true, confident self if she wants to make new friends. Katsumi stands up and bows.
"Hi. I know that I maybe didn't make a good first impression, but if you take the time to get to know me, you can see I'm here for the right reasons. And I hope we can become good friends."
The two looked surprised, but suddenly broke out into laughter. "Wh-what?" Katsumi asks, with a look of confusion.
"Sorry, we aren't laughing at you. I wanted to come over to apologize for being so blunt earlier. I think me and Tsuyu were just surprised at how outspoken you are." Kaminari says, trying to hold back his laughter.
The short girl speaks up, "I know I haven't introduced myself but I'm Tsuyu Asui. And I'm also sorry for being cold this morning. That wasn't the right thing to do."
Katsumi smiles and sits back down. Kaminari and Tsuyu sit down at the table. Katsumi can't believe that on her first day of school, she went from being disliked to liked, even if only a small amount of people accepted her. Katsumi knows that she can't be liked by all, but she'll try her hardest.
"So, I want to know more about your quirk," Kirishima says.
"Oh, well I have a fire quirk, as all of you know, but I awakened it pretty late. I was 10 when I discovered it, so I'm not that handy with it. My dad is good with blades, and my mom has a weak fire quirk. I was blessed to have a mixture of both of their quirks. The only disadvantage is that after a certain amount of time, I can suffer from heat exhaustion and dehydration. Let only the strain to focus on my flames, and to wield heavy weapons. Another reason why I wanted to come here was to learn how to control it, and to go up against strong opponents."
Everyone nods in understanding. All quirks have drawbacks, so Katsumi isn't alone. The only difference between her and them is that they have a better understanding of their quirk, and know when they've reached their limit. Katsumi hasn't been able to train her power much; her mom isn't strong, her dad is always away on business, her two eldest brothers Hinote and Homura are off working with the city, and Kaji hates the entire world. The only time she has to focus on her power is at night when she doesn't have to help her mother or complete schoolwork. She would go to an abandoned lot, and practice her swordsmanship.
"I haven't had the opportunity to train as much as I like, since all my friends from my neighborhood have weak quirks. That and my family is always busy doing something else." Katsumi isn't embarrassed to admit this, but she is disappointed in the fact that she's behind.
"Now that you're here, you can train all you want. And you have friends that can help you become stronger." Tsuyu reassures Katsumi of her worries. Even though she doesn't express it on her face, Tsuyu understands Katsumi's desire to catch up.
As Katsumi gets to know everyone, she starts to relax. She doesn't have to be so tense all the time, and she knows that the group of people around her accept her for who she is. Katsumi hopes that her other classmates come around eventually. The entire table laughs as Kaminari tells jokes about the other kids in 1-A.
From across the cafeteria, Katsumi has grabbed the attention of someone, who she would later find out, to least expect to notice her. A boy with pale blonde hair and an angry expression has been studying Katsumi's actions and expressions. What he thinks about Katsumi are unclear, but from that day on, Bakugo Katsuki would keep an eye on the new girl, Takeda Katsumi.
