Max's POV:

I wake up to another nightmare. I wake up and quickly look around realizing I'm in a bed room. Upon further inspection I see I'm not in the orphanage bedroom. That is when I realize I am at my birth mother's house. She got custody back. I look at the clock and my nightstand and it reads 4:30 a.m. I pull out my phone deciding to call Sarah and Miles.

"Hey guys wanna meet at our usual spot? I can't sleep and I wanna hang out at the park." I ask

"Yeah I can sneak out for a bit." Miles says

"We all know my parents won't come looking for me." Sarah says

"Okay I'll meet you guys there. I will be there in 10." I hang up calling a taxi

Once I see the taxi out front I quickly grab my bag. Once I see that I have my phone, art book, and money I open my window. I quickly climb out on my balcony climbing down the tree. Once my feet hit land I run to the taxi. Once I'm inside the taxi I give him directions to the park. Once I'm at the park I quickly pay and meet up to Sarah and Miles on the swing.

"Was it the same nightmare of the staff beating you?" Miles ask as I nod

"Yeah I'm glad to be out but at the same time I miss the freedom." I say

"You have what you always wanted though. You have a mom that cares." Sarah says hugging me handing a cigarette

"I know." I say as I smoke the cigarette

"I just miss how we could party, get drunk, and high and no one would care that we were ten. I mean I had no parents to watch out for me. It was exhilarating." I say honestly

"Here." Sarah says pulling out the wine she stole from her mom's cabinet

"Your parents ain't gonna notice you wasted." I ask Miles as I take a sip handing him the wine watching him do the same

"You know my parents are too busy with my younger siblings to notice. They only care when I'm missing school cause it looks bad on there image." Miles responds shrugging

"At least yours care when you miss school mine so caught up in school to notice me missing." Sarah says sighing

"See this is why this group works we come from broken homes. At JJ's it feels weird they are this perfect family and then there is me who has never had one that doesn't know how it works." I say honestly as I sigh take another swig of the wine

"You'll get through this Max. You don't have to do it alone you have us." Miles says holding my hand as Sarah nods agreeing

"Thanks for coming out with me tonight." I say smiling hugging both of my friends

As we hug we see a car pull up. I squint to see it's Jennifer. I feel a rush of guilt instantly hit me. I look towards Miles and Sarah to see them freeze. I quickly take the wine and cigarettes and hide them in bag. I watch as Jennifer walks up to us. I see my friends squirm from nerves. I let out a breath as Jennifer approaches us angrily.

"All of you in the car." Is all JJ says as she gets back in

"We better go." Miles says as I follow behind them

As we tipsily get into the car I feel Jennifer stare at us. I can't believe we got caught. We never had anyone look for us before. Let alone have anyone be ,and we snuck out. I see in the mirror just how pissed and worried JJ was. I turn my head to see Sarah drunkingly passed out on my shoulder. I see Miles anxious look out the window. I sigh what do I do now? How do I explain to Jennifer what happened. I can't help but feel that once we get home it's gonna be hell. I close my eyes and before I know I'm passed out on top of Miles.
