Chapter 21

Max's POV:

Miles and I are currently at Sarah's house getting ready for our annual Horror movie marathon. Miles and Sarah came and picked me up at 8:00. We're decorating Sarah's movie room horror themed. We decided we'd decorate it "Friday the Thirteenth" mixed with "Scream". It looks pretty epic. My friends and I change into our pjs in time for us to enjoy the snacks and drinks.

"Hey guys what do you think?" I ask showing them the neatly decorated movie room

"This is epic!" Miles says smiling

"Wow Max your Freddy Krueger pjs are epic!" Sarah says causing me to smile

"Miles your chucky couple pjs are so adorable!!" I say making him blush

"Thanks Max I picked them out at target earlier today actually." Miles says kissing Caleb's cheek

"Sarah your ghost face pjs are so cool. Where'd you get them?" I ask her as she smiles at me excitedly

"I got them with Miles when we went to target." Sarah says smiling sitting on a bean bag eating popcorn

"I almost got us some Sidney and Billy pjs." Miles says making me blush

"Wish I of known before I got my pj's from party city." I say smiling

"If it helps ours were last minute finds unlike yours." Sarah says shrugging

"I told her that we should of gotten our pjs before you. Sarah told me not to worry but you know her she is last minute oriented ." Miles says rolling his eyes at Sarah

"Yeah well you should have seen him shopping for his pjs I thought he'd never find any." Sarah says shaking her head sticking her tongue out as Miles sits there speechless

"Wait where does JJ and Will think you are?" Sarah asks curiously

"I may have lied and said I was sleeping at Miles. JJ and Miles's mom are friends now." I says shrugging rolling my eyes

"Seriously you have more balls than me. I think one look at serious JJ and Will and I'd be telling them my whole life story." Miles says laughing

"Miles a Chihuahua has more balls than you." Sarah says making me laugh

"Sorry Sarah but you're wrong about this one." Miles says

"Okay Sarah keep picking on Miles and his small ego will be dead." I says laughing as Miles stares at me wide eyed

"Wow you too Max." Miles says shaking his head disapprovingly

"Don't worry Miles I'll help you get Sarah back tonight." I says whispering to him making Miles smile

I get up and go to use the bathroom. Once I finish I sit back down as we start the "Friday the Thirteenth" I can't help but smile. I grab a snack and cuddle into Miles. I let out a sign of content. This is the family time I need tonight.

Sarah's POV:

As I'm watching the movie I look over to Max. She looks so peaceful. I can't help but smile as she cuddles into Miles sharing the blanket. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. I smile as she turns and comes to sit next to. I reach for some popcorn sharing it with her as she smiles.

"I'm really glad your mom let you do this tonight." She says smiling

"You know she's happy anytime we hang out cause it means I won't be around her." I says as Max nods her head understandingly

"Did you tell her about what happened at the park?" Max ask curiously

"Yeah I told her. Although what she told me was she knew it was a matter of time until I fell down the drug hole." I say rolling her eyes

"Well your mom also thought you'd drop out of school so she doesn't really know what she is saying." Max says smiling

"Yeah." I say smiling

"What are you gonna do about JJ?" I ask her once we're halfway through the movie

"What do you mean?" She asks confused

"Like how long are you gonna be mad before you give her a chance?" I finish saying

"I don't know. What she did isn't easily forgivable. At the same time it'd be nice to have a mom and it'd be nice to let go of this anger." She says truthfully as I nod

"I know I just hope she gives you the time you need to adjust." I say honestly

"Yeah but enough about her tonight isn't about my mom drama. Tonight is about having fun." Max say smiling

I nod as she returns her attention to the tv. I can't help questioning how long does she get to bed mad at JJ? I am distracted that I don't even notice the end credits of the movie start to play. I can't help but feel confused. What is gonna happen in a year from now with JJ? Is she gonna keep Max that long? I am interrupted from my thoughts when I see Max put the next movie in. This is gonna be a long night.
