Chapter 25

Max's POV:

I wake up at 7:00 to my phone blasting "Broken Home" by Five Seconds of Summer I quickly turn my alarm off. I lay in bed remembering all the drama with Sophia that played out yesterday. I quickly get up and shower getting dressed for the day. I put on some light makeup curling my hair. As I finish getting ready there is a knock on my door. I open my door sighing in relief seeing it be Henry and not Jennifer or Will.

"Hey Henry how'd you sleep buddy?" I ask grabbing my blazer out of the closet to put on

"Alright actually daddy came and saw me last night and apologize." Henry says sitting on my bed making me roll my eyes as I sigh quietly

"Yeah well Will tried to come in my room last night I was too tired and I was asleep." I say as Henry nods understandingly

"Yeah well as soon as he knocked I opened the door and saw it was daddy. He came in with mommy and they both sat on my bed and talked to me." Henry says as I shake my head sighing

"So what's the plan are we all gonna go down and have breakfast with your mom and dad?" I ask holding back the urge to roll my eyes

Before Henry can respond I hear two knocks on my door. I look at Henry hiding the face I am hoping those knocks don't belong to Will or Jennifer. I open the door relaxing when I see Miles and Sarah standing there. I move out of the way and watch as they join Henry on the bed before I close my door locking it.

"Did spawn point and sperm donor call you guys last night? Why are you here?" I ask whispering at Miles and Jenna watching as they nod shyly making me sigh and shake my head

"Jennifer and Will called saying you might need us today. So we came over as fast as we could so you can talk to us. So spill." Miles says shrugging as I roll my eyes shaking my head

"Well Will tried to get me to open my door last night and let him in but I ignored it. There is nothing he can say to excuse what he did." I say sadly as I keep my gaze on my carpet

"I opened mine because mommy told me daddy had something important to say to me." Henry says smiling as I watch Sarah fight the urge to roll her eyes I bite the inside of my cheek to hold back any remarks I am currently thinking of saying

"It is really lame how he tried to talk to you like he has any actual reasons to do what he did. Nothing he can say will get him your forgiveness for putting you and Henry in that situation." Sarah says sighing as I nod agreeing knowing she has a point and understands where I'm coming from

"I just wish he'd tried to be my step dad and Jennifer didn't defend him and she'd be a mom to me." I confess looking at the floor I feel as Miles and Sarah hug me making me smile at how much they both truly care about me

"Max it's okay we all secretly want that. At least we still have each other. That is one thing you will never have to wish for." Miles says hugging me as I nod wiping my face so Henry doesn't see me crying I can't let him know that their was more going on that day

"As much as I wish we could camp out here all day what are you gonna do for breakfast?" Sarah asks as I hear her stomach grumble loudly making me burst out laughing as Miles just snickers shaking his head at Sarah

"Well we can go downstairs, eat, ignore them, and then come back upstairs and hang in your room." Miles suggests as I nod quickly

"Alright I'm down for that lord knows I'm good at ignoring their screechy car breaks voices." I say seriously as I watch my friends hold back their laughter

"Okay come on let's go eat. Better get it over with before I change my mind." I say as I smile and we all go downstairs

I am the last to walk downstairs. Once we're downstairs I grab the cereal ignoring the fact Will is cooking. I grab four bowls handing them to Sarah. I watch as Henry grabs the milk and Miles grabs the spoons. We all sit at the table eating. I scroll on my phone looking at my TikTok. I look at Henry and Miles and see them listening to music on Miles phone. I look at Sarah and see she's busy texting playing a game. I smile thinking about how she has been trying to best this level for almost a week now. We all eat our cereal ignoring Will's attempts to get our attention. He sighs and grabs Henry once Henry finishes eating. Once Miles, Sarah, and I finish our food we rinse out our bowls going into my room. I sigh as I lay on my bed knowing today is gonna be another long day avoiding Will. I can't wait til Monday when we all go back to School. I can't believe I'm actually wishing for school. Crazy how much one person can make you not want to be in your own home.
