Chapter 14

Max's POV:

I can't stay here. I can't just stay in my room all Saturday not facing JJ and Will. I need to go and clear my phone. I look at the clock reading 11:00. I sigh I have four hours til supper. I grab my burner phone and head to the one place that always clear my head. I go to the library.

"Hey Max what are you doing here? Your parents are gonna freak!" Sarah says laughing

"I knew you'd be here where's Miles?" I ask

"His mom wasn't as lenient or easily playable like my mom." Sarah says smiling

"Yeah I know remember how much trouble we'd always get with Mrs Walker?" I ask laughing as Sarah nods

"I couldn't be cooped up in that house all day." I say

"Well that's perfect cause I happened to have a clear schedule thanks to mommy dearest never worrying about me. Wanna go to the pier?" Sarah asks

"Yes please right now I wanna be anywhere but in a house where JJ and Will are avoiding me." I state sighing

"Come on let's go back to my place grab our skateboards from my garage and go to the pier." Sarah says as we walk to her house

Once we find our skateboards in her garage we head to the pier. I sigh thinking how I'm gonna face JJ. She doesn't understand what my life was like. I shake my head and focus as we reach the pier. Once we're at the pier we go to the doc and jump in the water. Once we swim for like thirty minutes we get out changing in Sarah's spare clothes she brought for us both. Then we walk around the pier killing time. I check my phone for the time and it read 3:00.

"I have to go back in thirty minutes.  At 4:00 is when JJ comes in my room telling me it's supper. Then we'll sit in silence and then I'll go back to my room. I can't wait til this ground is over." I say annoyed

"I don't get why she grounded you when Miles and I took the blame." Sarah says confused

"Dude she gave me a whole power point presentation on why she did it but to be honest I tuned her out." I say laughing as Sarah shakes her head smiling

"Well we better head back to my house and bring the skateboards back. So you can head back to your house and sneak back in before JJ catches you. We both know if she sees you gone and sees us hanging out she will ground you even longer." Sarah says pissed as I nod getting on our skateboard following her to her house

Once I put my skateboard back in Sarah's garage house I give her a hug goodbye. I start my walk back to my house. Once I reach the house I climb the tree closest to my balcony and sneak back into my room. I sigh as I put everything back changing into my pjs. Today would have been better if Miles was there. I grab my sketch pad laying in my bed as I hear a knock on my door. I sigh as JJ enters. We go downstairs to eat. I can't wait til the awkwardness is over. I finish my food and go to bed. Today was fun but it'll be even better when this grounding is over. I close my eyes and with that I fall into a deep sleep.
