commentttttttttttTreech hesitated for a moment but eventually took a deep breath and grabbed the shorter brunettes wrist, pulling her behind him as he sprinted past the events that were happening on their left as the curly haired girl tried to flee Coral and her district partner.
"Lumberjack!", the red haired girl growled as she aimed at the brunette infront of her, forcing the mentioned boy to stop behind some of the fallen ruins, hiding their two bodies, hugging each other as they remained unnoticed by the red head.
As both of them looked from behind the ruins, observing as the duo followed behind the district 12 girl, they suddenly felt some sort of strong wind hitting their heads - which was weird, as the weather had been rather calm in the last few hours, forcing the trio to stop in their tracks.
They all looked up and as Invidia and Treech started hearing some strange noises, which they soon after recognized as drone noises coming from the opening in the ceiling of the arena, they left their hiding spot, not caring about revealing themselves to the other tributes.
And that's when the dust started hitting their eyes as a tank was set down on the floor infront of them. Invidia made eye contact with Treech for a second and soon after, the strange thing that had just released the tank, was now leaving the scene.
She looked over to the other tributes who were all frozen in their spots just like them, simply staring at the tank and the more they stood there, the more of a bad gut feeling she was getting.
At some point, she started to inch closer to where Treech was standing all motionlessly, as she pulled out her pale hand, trying to reach for him.
"T-treech", she stuttered as she still stared out towards the tank but eventually looked over to him.
"what is all of this", she whispered just as quietly. "i have a bad feeling about-", she continued but her voice gave up as soon as she spotted the little girl from eight, heading towards the center of the arena where the tank was left behind.
"is it over?", she heard the younger girl nearly cry out and her heart started to break.
"can we go home now?", she continued.
Suddenly, she noticed the dark skinned boy, whom she had not noticed throughout the past few minutes of them observing the tank, and she was left wondering how long he had been kneeling over there for already.
"wovey!", she heard him call out, his tone low. "wovey!", he repeated, as the younger girl continued on walking towards the tank.
"please", the younger girl now cried out.
Without any thought, Inividia pulled away from her spot, heading straight towards the younger girl to force her away from the tank but was pulled back to her spot by Treech who was now gripping her wrist.
She heard the dark skinned boys voice call out for the little girl again but went unnoticed once more and the girl was now just a few inches away from the tank.
Just seconds later, the district 5 girl, noticed as the tank started to crack and in a matter of seconds the younger girl was pulled down by tons of creatures who broke out from the dark tank, leaving her speechless.
She had just witnessed the little girl, whom she always tried to protect from the Capitols evil concept, die right in front of her eyes in the worst way imaginable.
In that moment, Invidia was blaming herself for not listening to her gut feeling - but what was she supposed to do ?
Invidia froze in shook, not realizing that the creatures were all now heading towards them, until she got pulled out of her own thoughts by a breathless Treech who was now pulling her towards one of the ruins that they could possibly climb on.
They both looked to their left, noticing as both of the girls ran for the only easily climbable ruins as the red heads partner got pulled down by these creatures just like Wovey did, making the older girl look back and for the first time ever, Invidia spotted some sort of emotion in her eyes.
She got too distracted by the red head and as she was running behind the boy, she stumbled into something that made her nearly fall if it wasn't for Treech who held her up, soon to realize that it was Woveys leg that she had just stumbled on.
Invidia chocked out a gasp as she held up her hand to her mouth and suddenly she felt her body go numb.
"it's okay, it's fine", Treech panicked as he started to pull her from her spot. "just keep on running."
Just keep on running, Invidia.
And that's what she did.
She ran. No matter if her body felt like giving up due to the numbness.
She wouldn't let them die just like that.
If she couldn't live on the side of all of her fallen loved ones, then she needed to live for them.
That's what she liked to repeat for herself.
"climb up first, quick", she heard the boy call out as they finally stopped, revealing the tall ruins behind him.
The ruins looked to her just like the ones that Lamina got unalived on a few hours ago.
The ruins were pretty tall and they didn't have much time left as the first creatures, that she had recognized as snakes just a few seconds prior, were already making their way towards them.
That's when treech quickly extended his arms, helping the girl up and as soon as she had made her way on the ruins, she immediately grabbed the boys jacket, helping him pull himself up as more and more snakes started to gather around the ruins.
Due to the lack of space on the simply long ruin, she slowly moved her body across the cold concrete, making up some space for the boy to sit on and as he inched closer, she spotted the lifeless body of Reaper laying on the floor next to the dead tributes bodies, but was pulled out of her bubble as she spotted all of the snakes now heading towards the two girls across the arena and lastly, their spot.
"i'm scared", she whispered in a shaky tone.
She inched closer to Treech who extended his arm, throwing it around her thinned out body as he slowly moved his head towards her ear.
"get your spear ready", he softly whispered, still trying to remain calm and collected as he held her in that moment.
She only nodded as a tear ran down her cheek and that's when she pulled out her spear. To her left, the boy had already pulled out his Ax and the first creatures started to quickly make their way up. One after another.
"now."
