Today was the day we would finally see the hanok after all the rebuilding. The anticipation had built up for months, and while I knew the house wasn't completely finished, the thought of seeing it again made my stomach churn with a mix of excitement and nerves. My growing boy, Han, and our ever-curious kitten, who had developed a knack for chewing on furniture, were in my thoughts as I prepared for the day.

As I shuffled around our temporary apartment, Han nestled comfortably on my hip, I focused on packing the essentials. I carefully placed his milk bottle, juice bottle, diapers, tissues, and a few healthy snacks into the bag. Each item was chosen with care, ensuring that Han would have everything he needed for the day ahead.

San emerged from the office room, his car keys in hand and a warm smile gracing his lips. His presence was both reassuring and comforting. He noticed my pale complexion and immediately approached with concern.

"Are you okay? You look really pale," he said softly, his eyes searching mine for any sign of discomfort.

I forced a smile, trying to downplay my unease. "I'm fine—just maybe a little tired. I couldn't sleep," I admitted shyly. The thought of our old hanok being rebuilt had occupied my mind to the point where restful sleep had become elusive.

San approached me, his expression softening with concern as he noticed my state. He placed his hand lightly on my shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "You sure you're up for this today? We can always reschedule if you need a bit more time," he offered, always attuned to my needs.

I shook my head, mustering a smile despite the anxiety churning inside me. "No, I want to go. I think seeing the house will actually help settle my nerves," I said, hoping my voice sounded more convincing than I felt. It was important to both of us to make this transition smooth, to finally move back into a space that held so many memories and promised new beginnings.

San nodded, though his eyes still held a trace of worry. "Alright, if you're sure. Let's get everything ready then." His voice was steady, a calming presence in the whirlwind of my apprehensions.

I continued packing the essentials for Han, ensuring we had everything he might need for the day out. Meanwhile, San helped by gathering some of our personal items that we wanted to bring along, items that would make the hanok feel more like home once we were there.

Once everything was packed, we headed out to the car. I settled Han into his car seat, his bright eyes curious and excited, unaware of my internal turmoil. San loaded the rest of our things into the trunk and then got into the driver's seat. As we drove off, the familiar streets rolled by, each one bringing us closer to our rebuilt hanok.

The drive gave me some time to collect my thoughts, to steady the mix of nostalgia and nervousness that filled me. San reached over to hold my hand, his grip warm and reassuring. "It's going to be fine," he murmured, as if reading my thoughts. "The house looks great, and you'll love what they've done with the place."
