The Fight

Reggie charged straight ahead, ready to punch the robot. He leaped forward, and to his surprise, he was flying. He quickly shifted his focus back to the robot. But Evil Dilton had seen his attack and pulled a lever sideways, which made the robot swat Reggie away easily. He flew a long distance then hit the ground hard. He bounced on the ground a few times before finally stopping.

"R!" Betty called out for him.

Evil Dilton pressed a few buttons. Then, one of the robot's arm changed into a canon and aimed at the group. A white orb was quickly forming on it. Evil Dilton pressed a button, then the orb was launched. The group quickly split up to avoid it—just barely. Still, the school entrance was destroyed.

Veronica panted heavily and rested her hand on Betty's shoulder. "Betty," she mumbled. Her eyes were wide open; they didn't dare to blink. She slowly turned her head to her friend. "What was that?"

Betty felt sorry for her friend. "You're in shock, Ronnie," she whispered.

"We almost died." Veronica kept panting softly as she slowly straightened herself up.

"I know," said Betty. She looked at her other friends. They, too, were in shock. It was then that Betty realized how challenging a superhero's life must have been. Death would be lurking around every corner, at each of their battles, waiting to strike if they were to make a mistake.

Inside the robot, Evil Dilton was taking notes on his voice recorder. "Status: seems to be inexperienced in combat. Speed: perhaps average human speed or slower—I should search that up. Anyway, they could, at most, currently, outrun a bee. Intelligence: the one with the green outfit and white mask most likely has an IQ below one hundred. The others—unsure at the moment. Strength: unsure as well."

Archie charged toward the robot. He managed to land a punch on its foot. But once he felt the impact, he felt as though his knuckles broke. He screamed and held his broken-but-not-actually-broken hand.

Evil Dilton made the robot step back and saw Archie. The robot was about to step on him, but Hot Dog pulled Archie away before he could get stepped on.

"Be careful!" Hot Dog said. His words were muffled against the hem of Archie's shirt. He placed Archie down when they were at a safer zone. Archie breathed out a "thank you" to him.

"The dog appears to be quite speedy," Evil Dilton noted. "But then again, it is a four-legged creature. Similar to—" Suddenly, he felt his robot getting hit.

It was Jughead. His palm was facing the robot while other hand held his wrist, as though he was holding a weapon.

"What was that?" Veronica asked him.

"I don't know," replied Jughead. "I just wanted to attack. Next thing I knew, there was a glowing ball that shot out of my hand."

Evil Dilton grumbled. "Complete morons," he mumbled to himself. Then, his robot was attacked again. But it wasn't as powerful as Jughead's attack.

"I'm still standing!" Reggie exclaimed. He had kicked the robot across its face. There was a line of blood on the side of his face, and he panted a bit. Still, he was grinning triumphantly. "You didn't think you'd get rid of me that easily, did you?"

"Oh, my gosh! R... y- you're bleeding!" said Veronica. She still wasn't used to having to use codenames to refer to her friends.

Betty rushed to Reggie's side. "Can you still fight?"

Reggie sighed. "Honestly, it feels like I have a concussion," he admitted. "But I'm not missing out on a chance to be a superhero." He looked at Archie and pointed at him. "Especially with Redhead on the team. I'm not about to lose to him."
