Veronica finally returned home after her shopping spree. As she walked to the door, it was suddenly opened by her butler, Smithers. "Hello, miss Veronica." Smithers greeted her. Veronica greeted him back with another "hello" and went to her room. When she went to her room, she placed all of the things that she bought earlier on her bed. Veronica decided to try her new clothes on after she took a bath. Before she prepared to take a bath, she glanced at her vanity table and noticed something strange. The flowers that Archie gave her yesterday were glowing. She didn't hesitate to go and check the flowers. 'What kind of flowers did Archie buy me? I didn't even know glowing flowers existed. How did he even manage to get these? Flowers like these must've cost a fortune.' Veronica thought.
Suddenly, the glowing became faster and a bright light flashed before Veronica's eyes. The sudden light caused her to gasp. Before she could wonder what was causing the light, she was consumed by it; without a single trace of her left.
The door was then opened by one of Veronica's maids, Fi-Fi. "Miss Veronica?" She called out, scanning the room for any sight of Veronica. When Fi-Fi couldn't find her employer's daughter, she left the room; assuming that Veronica was in the bathroom. Little did she know, Veronica was in a place that could not be located by any human being.
A few seconds later, Veronica almost stumbled down to the white ground. She stood up properly and looked around the room. It was so white, she thought, that she couldn't even see her own shadow. When she was done examining the room, she began to worry where she was.
"Hello?" She called out. But no one answered her. "Smithers? Father? Fi-Fi?" She called out again. Still no reply from anyone. This made her worry even more. "Where am I?" She muttered to herself.
"Hello, Veronica." A voice said. She immediately began to quickly glance around the room, looking for the person who called out to her. "Who's there?" She demanded. The creature appeared in front of her. "Hello," it repeated, with a smile in its face. Veronica looked at it from head to toe. She found it a little strange that it was just as white as the void. She would've had a hard time distinguishing it from the void if it lacked its gray outlines. Then, she looked it straight in its pure white eyes and asked, "who are you? And what are you?"
"We'll do introductions later. But you can call me 3.285 for now." The creature replied. Veronica raised an eyebrow, "all right, I guess." She said. "Why am I here?" Veronica added. "Well-" the creature began, but was cut off. "And while we're at the subject, where am I? How did I get here? Am I dead?! I still have more to do in life!" Veronica panicked.
The creature blinked a few times before replying, "oh, no! You're not dead... yet." The creature looked away and mumbled the last part. "What was that?" Veronica demanded. The creature quickly looked back at her and said, "nothing, nothing." It cleared its throat. "You're in a void. And you got here by touching those flowers." The creature answered.
"The ones Archie got me? The ones that were glowing?" Veronica asked. The creature nodded in reply. "It's a simple spell I used. I needed an object dear to you for it to work." It said. "Anyways, back to business. I'm here to deliver an important message to you."
"Really? From who?" Veronica asked the creature. "That doesn't matter right now." It said. "You have been chosen to be a protector of your planet." Ron raised a brow. "Like a hero or something?" She asked. "Yeah, you can think of it that way." 3.285 replied. It then made a power ball and offered it to Veronica. "Here, eat this." It said.
She raised an eyebrow at the creature. Why would she eat something that didn't look anywhere near edible? Especially if it was offered by someone--and something--she didn't know. For all she know, the thing could kill her once it gets in her mouth.
"Eat that? Why?" She asked. 'This girl asks too many questions... Betty was way more tolerable than her,' the creature thought. It sighed and said, "just trust me. It'll give you superpowers."
Veronica was still suspicious about this sudden offer. She had no reason to trust the creature in front of her. But she didn't have a reason not to trust the creature. Maybe trusting him could be the only way she can go back home? But what if she'll regret it?
Ron decided to risk it and ate the power ball that was offered to her. At first, she didn't feel anything. Then, after a few seconds, she felt something strange. It didn't hurt or anything. It was as if she couldn't feel anything at all, but at the same time, she could. "Now what?" She asked. "Now," the creature said, "you go home."
"That's just it?" Veronica asked. The creature nodded. Suddenly, a bright light flashed before Veronica's eyes. In a matter of seconds, she was back in her room. Veronica blinked a few times before processing where she was. She was still in the same place she was in before she was teleported.
"I can't..... I can't believe.... I'm a hero..." Veronica said slowly after a few seconds. But apparently, she managed to process this almost quickly. "Well, if I'm going to be a superhero, I'll need a costume." She said. She then started rummaging through the clothes she bought earlier.
A few minutes later, she found a dress that she could use as a costume. "Now this," Veronica said, "is perfect."
It was still missing a mask. She didn't know what to use for a mask or how to make one. But it wasn't really her top priority at the moment; Veronica needed to know how to use and control her new powers. But before she could do anything else, Veronica's phone began to ring.
