Nadine's POV:

"Alright, Rosewood," just call me Nadia, "As your senior, it is my duty to set some ground rules, alright?"

I nod. He doesn't have to worry about goodie-two-shoes Nadia.

"Okay, I have a few rules I wrote down. Just...take a look at them." He shoves a sheet of paper over to me and I take it.

Rosewood's Rules:
1. No boys.
2. Curfew is 10:30.
3. No loud music.
4. No friends over after 8:30.
5. No test scores below 75%
6. Don't fail classes.
7. Follow the school rules.

Yeah, he diffently won't have to worry about me.

My eyes scan over the paper. The rules are simple. I would have followed them even if they weren't rules.

"What happens if I don't follow one?" I question him. Over the past few hours, me and Cade have gotten to known each other better. I feel a bit more comfortable around Cade. Comfortable enough to ask him questions and have a verbally responsive conversation with him. I feel more comfortable around him than I do Charlotte, Misha, and Xena. Which is weird. I guess I jusy connect with him easier, but I have to stay an arms length. No matter what. My eyes don't leave the paper.

"Loss of privlages. Like, I take your phone or something."

"I don't have a phone."

"Oh. Maybe I'll throw in front of a crowd of people." He smirks.

I glance up at him when he takes a jab at my anxiousness in social situations. I feel bad. I don't understand why I can't talk like a normal person. Why I can't interact like a normal person. Why can't I be...normal? It was his fault. But that's selfish to say. Cade's stupid grin isn't making me feel better.

"I'm kidding. I'll take away something else I guess."

I just nod.

. . .

I spend the rest of the evening reading before getting ready for bed in the small bathroom. I put on a light pink pajama top and matching bottoms.

Cade glances up from his desk as I walk out of the bathroom, but he doesn't say anything.

I slip into bed and cover myself with the cozy blankets, but I can't sleep. Not without Zara. I debate whether I should get her or not. Fuck it. I need her.

I reach an arm under my bed. My hand dances around, searching for Zara. I can't risk grabbing anything else. Eventually, my hand makes contact with my beloved. I pull her out and snuggle her in bed.

Cade chuckles and it startles me a bit, I hadn't noticed him watching me.
"Cute bunny, Rosewood. What else you got hidden under there?" He teases and I roll my eyes, ignoring him.

He turns off his desk light, ready to head to bed himself. "Night, Rosewood."

"Night."
