The two left heading to Alexa's place, a heavy silence hanging between them. Ammielle hesitated to start the conversation, unsure of how to broach the sensitive topic that had thrust them into the spotlight.

"We haven't had a proper talk since the news came out. I'm sorry you were dragged into this," Alexa finally spoke, her voice steady despite the turmoil in her thoughts.

As they settled into Alexa's living room, the atmosphere remained tense yet charged with unspoken feelings. Ammielle glanced at Alexa, her heart softening at the sight of the person who had stood by her side through it all. Memories of Alexa caring for her during times of sickness flashed through her mind, reminding her of the genuine connection they shared.

"It's okay," Ammielle admitted with a small, rueful smile. She took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts. "We can call off the engagement if and when we need to, right?"

Alexa nodded, her own emotions swirling. Despite the turmoil, there was a subtle warmth between them, an unspoken understanding that strengthened their bond. She reached out, gently taking Ammielle's hand in hers, feeling the comforting reassurance of their touch.

"I had no idea this would happen. When it was announced, honestly, it scared me," Alexa confessed softly, meeting Ammielle's gaze. "I was scared for you. I know how fiery you can get when things don't go as planned, especially with something as big as this engagement."

Amused, Alexa chuckled softly. "Thank you for not getting mad at me," she said sincerely, her eyes reflecting gratitude.

"I was just returning the favor," Ammielle replied, her voice tinged with warmth.

"But I'm going to ask you something though."

"Speak," Alexa said with a hint of playfulness, her lips curving into a teasing smile.

"We'll finish filming first, and then I'll agree with your grandmother," Ammielle said, her tone serious but laced with a touch of sincerity.

Amidst the seriousness of their conversation, there was an unspoken intimacy between them. They leaned closer, their hands still intertwined, sharing a moment of quiet understanding and support.

The door suddenly opened revealing Dan who is Alexa's father, Abigail, along with Rafael and Gwen. All four were discussing something as they walked it. Dan dismissed the others as he approached Ammielle with apologies in his eyes. And a smile at her daughter.

"We meet again, sir," Ammielle said politely, offering her hand to Alexa's father as they sat across from each other in Alexa's living room.

"I apologize for the mess you were dragged into, Ammielle. And I thank you for accompanying my daughter. Please, have a seat. We have a lot to discuss," Dan replied warmly, shaking Ammielle's hand firmly before gesturing for her to sit.

Ammielle glanced at Alexa briefly, her expression conveying concern. Alexa smiled reassuringly, silently indicating that her father was nothing like her grandmother—this meeting would likely be different.

"Abigail, please get us some coffee," Dan called out to the housekeeper, who promptly nodded and left to fetch refreshments.

"I assume you already have an idea of why we're having this unexpected discussion. Again, I apologize for any trouble this has caused you," Dan began once they were settled.

Ammielle nodded, crossing her legs as she focused on Dan, noting the sincerity in his tone and the respectful way he approached the conversation.

"You can refuse any of the things you don't want to do," Dan continued, his voice steady and reassuring. "No one should dictate what you do because you've already done us a great favor. In return, you have full access to the De Costas' resources. Anything you need, please don't hesitate to ask. Even if this is all for show, please look after my daughter's well-being as she would for you."
