VERY IMPORTANT

I tried to write a chapter today, just couldn't bring myself to do it. The only thing on my mind right now is the condition of the country today. I live in Bangladesh and currently, it is horrible here.

Students are protesting, it's called quota reform movement. Their cause is valid because quota is unfair and biased. Every one works hard then why should a certain group of people enjoy privilege?

Yes, I agree, Bangladesh is independent today and we owe it to those who fought for independence. And they should be given the utmost respect but that does not mean it is okay to take away opportunities from people who actually worked hard and give those opportunities to those who are less deserving.

I was not there in 1971. But I can imagine what it was like back then. Those who revolted back then were students. Those who are revolting today are students. Those who demanded that their rights be served to them back then were students. Those who protest today in hopes of acquiring their rights today are students. Those who died back in 1971 were students and those who have died in 2024 are students.

The PM called the protesters rajakar for protesting against quota. Rajakar is a term given to traitors in the 1971 war of liberation.

Why must they be labeled such an outrageous term when what they're demanding for is valid?

They asked for their rights and they were given death. Nothing has changed.

Police is supposed to protect us. Then why is it that they are the ones beating the students, killing them? Is this what we call a democracy?

This is not only about quota reform anymore. This is about students dying. This is about police brutality. This is about human rights. And most of all, about freedom.

I urge you all to do your research. Just search once on google, Instagram, Facebook about the quota reform movement in Bangladesh, the student protests. They have attacked university campuses. Spread the word, please. Post about it from your profiles.

Quota did not exist in 1971. Those students who had the guts to take a stand were মেধাবী (talented).

Hence,
Quota নাকি মেধা? (Quota or talent?)
মেধা! মেধা! (Talent! Talent!)

The govt has agreed for negotiations but what about those who were killed? How are we supposed to continue our lives like nothing happened? How do we live in a country knowing that it is only a make-believe democracy and we may be killed if we take a stand?

Everyone needs to know:
লাখো শহীদের রক্তে কেনা দেশটা কারো বাপের না।
