The next day, Abro and Annie were working together during a relatively quiet shift. The restaurant was slowly winding down for the night, and they found themselves alone in the kitchen again. Abro knew it was time to come clean about his conversation with her father.
"Annie," he began, catching her attention. "There's something I need to tell you."
Annie looked up from the dishes she was washing, her expression curious. "What is it?"
Abro took a deep breath. "I had a talk with your father last night. He noticed that I've been coming to the restaurant for the past two years."
Annie's eyes widened in surprise. "He did?"
"Yeah," Abro said, feeling a mix of nervousness and relief. "He confronted me about it, and I told him the truth. I told him that I've been following you for more than 2 years now. I know it sounds bad, but I assured him that I would never hurt you."
Annie was silent for a moment, her expression thoughtful. "And what did he say?"
"He said he believed me," Abro replied. "But he also warned me that if I ever hurt you, I'd have to answer to him."
Annie smiled slightly, a soft, almost amused smile. "That sounds like him."
"I just wanted to be honest with you," Abro said, taking a deep breath. "I've shared a lot, but there's one thing I've been holding back. I know it might sound weird, but I've been drawn to you for a long time, and my feelings for you are real."
Annie took a deep breath, her eyes meeting his. "Thank you for being honest with me, Abro. It means a lot. And... I believe you. I can see that your feelings are genuine."
Abro felt a surge of hope. "Does that mean...?"
Annie stepped closer, her expression serious but warm. "It means we can take things one step at a time. You don't have to rush anything. Let's see where this goes."
Abro nodded, feeling a sense of relief and happiness. "I'm willing to do that. As long as it means being close to you."
Annie smiled, a soft, genuine smile that made Abro's heart race. "Good. Now, let's finish up here. We've got a lot of work to do."
As they worked side by side, the air between them was filled with a new sense of understanding and connection. Abro knew there were still challenges ahead, but he was ready to face them with Annie by his side.
