Marcus was caught off guard by her sudden outburst, but he quickly composed himself and responded calmly. "Look, I understand you're upset from earlier. But I promise, I'm not following you because of the presentation. I saw you leaving school and walking home alone at night, and I just wanted to make sure you get home safely." He said, maintaining a gentle tone.

"No, I don't need your help," I responded as I walked off.

Marcus watched as she walked off, feeling frustrated and concerned. He knew she was determined to prove her independence, but he also knew that safety was no joke. He considered following her discreetly again, but he didn't want to overstep her boundaries or make her feel more agitated than she already was.

He couldn't shake off the anxiety he felt about her safety, but he also knew that pushing her too hard might drive her even further away. He decided to wait momentarily, watching her from a distance to ensure she didn't come to any harm.

The cold winter night air seemed to magnify his worry, but he didn't want to let his anxiety overtake his judgment. He observed her walking further down the road, hoping she would make it home safely without any incidents.

The night went on, Marcus and his fellow Agents responded to the call and he couldn't shake off the thoughts about Elaine. They found her shaken and fearful when they arrived at the old woman's backyard. She explained that she had seen something unusual in her backyard, something that had scared her tremendously.

As they approached the backyard, they saw something that sent chills down their spines: a hand reaching up from the underground as if desperately trying to escape. The sight was so unexpected and eerie that it seemed almost unreal.

Marcus and the other Agents looked at each other, speechless and alarmed. They cautiously moved closer to the spot where the hand was emerging, unsure of what they were dealing with or what they were about to find.

The air was thick with tension as the Agents carefully began to dig around the area where the hand was appearing. They worked cautiously, not knowing what they might uncover or what dangers lay beneath them.

As they dug deeper, they began to uncover more of a figure buried underground. The Agents' hearts raced, and their senses were on high alert. They had encountered many strange cases before, but this one seemed particularly ominous.

As the Agents dug deeper, they were surprised to find that the hand was attached to a person, partially buried underground. The person was struggling to escape, their fingers grasping at anything they could find. Marcus and the other Agents worked quickly but carefully to uncover the person, their faces etched with concern and confusion.

Finally, they managed to reveal the entire person, who was gasping and disoriented from being buried alive. As the person was freed from the soil, Marcus recognized her instantly - it was Elaine. Fear and shock washed over him as he took in the sight of the teenage girl he had been worried about all night.

Marcus rushed to Elaine's side, his heart racing with panic and relief. He took off his jacket and wrapped it around her shivering body, trying to provide some warmth in the cold night air. "It's alright, I'm here," he reassured her, speaking as calmly as he could despite his own shock and terror. "We're going to get you out of here."

The other Agents quickly called for an ambulance, while Marcus stayed by Elaine's side, holding her trembling form with care and desperation. He couldn't believe what had happened, how she had ended up buried alive in a stranger's backyard.

Marcus's mind was racing with questions and concerns for her well-being, but his primary focus was on comforting her and ensuring her safety. He held her close, rubbing her back and trying to calm her ragged breathing. He could see the fear and confusion in her eyes, and he wished he could erase the trauma she had endured.

My head rested on his shoulder, I didn't know where I was. I breathed heavily, my head was quite bloody. Marcus held her tighter, feeling a surge of protectiveness and worry. The sight of her bloodied head and the tremors of shock and horror shook him to his core. "Hang on, an ambulance is on its way. We're going to get you some help," he murmured in a soothing voice, his hold on her firm yet gentle.

Marcus noticed the tear trickling down her cheek and the way her fingers clutched onto him for support. He could sense the confusion and fright in her gaze as she looked around, trying to make sense of her current situation. He gently reached up and brushed away the tear, his touch comforting and reassuring. "It's going to be okay. You're safe now," he repeated, still holding her closely.

The sound of approaching sirens grew louder, signalling that help was on the way. Marcus continued to hold Elaine, his eyes scanning her small and fragile form, noting the cuts and bruises on her body and the blood on her head.

His heart ached with concern and anger at whoever had done this to her. He couldn't comprehend how someone could be so cruel, especially to a young girl like her. But he pushed those thoughts aside for now, focusing solely on keeping her stable until the paramedics arrived.

The sound of gravel crunching under tyres reached their ears, signalling the arrival of the ambulance. The paramedics quickly leapt out and rushed towards them, their expressions filled with a mixture of concern and urgency.

Marcus reluctantly released his hold on Elaine, allowing the paramedics to attend to her. They immediately set to work, gently manoeuvring her onto a stretcher and quickly assessing her condition.

He watched intently as the paramedics worked on Elaine, their practised hands moving with efficiency as they cleaned and examined her injuries. The sight of her small frame on the stretcher, looking lost and scared, tugged at his heart strings.
