Chapter 3

I turn around and see the same guy from the selection two weeks ago holding the arm that had my sword in it.

"Why did you do that?" I asked.

"Do what?" He said looking at me curiously. His face was as boring as the last time I saw him. Maybe he needs to show some emotions.

"Sneaking up behind me. I thought you were a demon for a second." I looked at him and pulled my arm away sighing. I sheathed my sword back then look at the two girls again.

"Can you guy talk or are you too scared?" I asked the girls. The older one spoke up and said to me, "for a while now people in the village would disappear without a trace and would leave something random behind. It only happens when they are alone."

"Okay well you aren't alone now. I thought it was kids who would disappear not adults as well." I was standing in a thinking position while Muichiro was just looking at me.

"Where would it usually happen?" Muichiro asked. The younger girl then started to talk, "N-near the lake."

"Wait a minute. This house is next to the lake that means..."

The two girls started smiling and laughing hysterically. Their bodies started to rise up and suddenly they were off the floor. Their bodies were connected to a vine which was connected to the ground. They weren't even alive.

What type of demon is this?

"Foolish humans always being tricked easily. Let's see... I see we have a young female and a young male how wonderful." There was a voice that's started to talk from one of the bodies but it was more like the vine itself.

I unsheathe my sword and try to attack it from a distance with the extender in my sword. I successfully cut off the two vines connected to the bodies which makes the vines and bodies fall.

"Muichiro the lake is most likely where the main body of the demon is we have go under water most likely." I tell him.

"The demon must be a water demon of some sort or maybe a nature one so we can't be positive about it." He says to me.

"Well then let's just go separate ways and see for ourselves I'm going to the lake." I tell him before turning around and leaving the house.

He just nods and does the same as well going to explore more out wards more where trees and plain lands are.

When I get out and go near the lake I see more vines coming from the ground but can't see a demon itself. I go into the lake and try to cut all the vines around in one go.

Once I did that I went back up to the surface to catch some air. Just soon after I got pulled back underneath by a vine wrapped around my leg.

A demon then comes from the ground and grabs my legs. I quickly use my sword to cut his arm off right away.

I was about to go for his head but he goes back under ground again so I couldn't cut it off in time.

Fuck!

I see his body again but located at a different place in the water. I try to use my sword by using the extender as a type of grappling to get me to where the demon is, but because I was underwater it was hard for me to get to the other side fast enough to catch up to the demon before it disappears again.

What should I do to stop it...

By now I could pass out any minute from lack of oxygen but I was using my breathings so I can be awake longer.

I then continue to think for a way to attack the demon. I could just wait till I'm close enough to him so I can use my extended part of my sword to cut his head.

I keep on following the demon with using my sword till the demon comes up closer than last time so I can cut his head off easier.

Once he got close enough I used my sword and cut his head off.

Snow breathing 1st form: blizzard stampede

I cut his head off and right away try to get back to the surface before passing out.

When I get to the surface I cough out all the water in my mouth before standing back up.

Where is Muichiro?

My vision started to blur but I still kept walking. Something in the water must have something to make me feel this way.

I see Muichiro in the distance with something fading away in front of him. He must have saw another demon as well. There must have been two demons working together here.

"Is there any other demons around here?" I said going up to him, "No I don't sense any in particular or smell anything abnormal anymore." He said back to me, "Are you okay? You look like an old hag holding your sword as a cane." He told me. He didn't look concerned he was only looking at me with a questionable face.

"I only got poisoned so I'm fine I won't die I might just..." I passed out without finishing my sentence. He was looking at me blankly and decided to crouch down and poke my unconscious face.

-Time Skip-

I wake up in an infirmary which seemed familiar to me. I'm pretty sure I'm in Shinobu's estate by the looks of it.

My clothing was already changed and my uniform was on the nightstand.

I decided to stand up and leave the room to try and look for someone.

"You're awake." Someone said behind me. I turned around and saw Shinobu standing there with a smile, "I wouldn't recommend walking around a lot because it might tire you and the poison might take effect again." She said to me. I sighed and started walking to her.

"Do you know who brought me here Shinobu-san?" I asked her. She nodded and told me, "Tokito-kun brought you here. He didn't look worried or anything he only told me to take care of you and left."

"I see..." I then hear running coming from behind me and I'm encountered with a worried looking Mitsuri coming to hug me.

I get squeezed by her arms which hurt but I'm quite used to it, "Kazuma-Chan I was so worried when I heard you were poisoned I ran as fast as I can to come and see you!" She told me with tears in her eyes.

"Kanroji-san I wasn't going to die. It was just poison from a low level demon. I'm fine trust me, just put me down please I might pass out again." I told her, "I'm sorry Kazuma-Chan I didn't mean to hurt you!" She put me down and my breathing was back to normal.

I looked down and saw something unfamiliar in Mitsuri's appearance, "Have those long socks always been there?"

Taisho Era Secrets!:

-When Muichiro was bringing Kazuma to the Butterfly estate he held her over the shoulder upside down which Shinobu got mad because it was an improper way to carry her. He only shrugged it off and left.

-When walking back to the estate, Muichiro forgot what he was doing half way and where he was going.

-Mitsuri sees Kazuma as a younger sister and is always worried for her which Kazuma likes but tries to hide it.
