The energy in the locker room was electric. The team had just secured a hard-fought victory in their first game of the season.

Y/N and her teammates were all grinning ear to ear, exhilarated by the win.

"We did it, guys!" Lynn shouted, pulling everyone into a celebratory huddle.

Eddie, who had done a stellar job as the water boy, joined in the cheers. "That was amazing, everyone! Drinks on me tonight!"

The team decided to go out to celebrate, heading to their favorite local hangout.

The night was filled with laughter, shared memories, and high hopes for the season ahead.

Y/N felt a sense of camaraderie and joy that only a successful team effort could bring.

As the night wore on, Y/N lost track of time, enjoying the moment.

It wasn't until much later that she realized how late it had gotten.

"Guys, I need to get home," Y/N said, glancing at her watch. "I have a marathon tomorrow."

Lynn and the others waved her off with understanding nods. "Good luck, Y/N! You got this," Lynn encouraged.

Y/N hurried home, the euphoria of the win still coursing through her veins.

But as she walked through the door, she was greeted by the stern faces of her parents.

"Where have you been?" her mother demanded, arms crossed. "Do you realize what time it is?"

Y/N's heart sank. "I'm sorry, I was out with the team. We won our first game, and we wanted to celebrate."

Her father stepped forward, his voice filled with frustration.

"You have a marathon tomorrow! You need to rest your legs and get some sleep. This is completely irresponsible."

Y/N's temper flared. "I know I have a marathon! I just... I forgot, okay? I was caught up in the moment."

Her mother shook her head.

"This is exactly why you need to be more responsible. Celebrating can wait. You need to prioritize your commitments."

Y/N's anger boiled over. "You weren't even there! You don't know what it's like to be part of a team, to work hard and win together. I needed this."

Her parents exchanged glances, taken aback by Y/N's outburst.

"We understand that you're passionate about your team," her father began, trying to calm the situation. "But you also have other responsibilities."

Y/N shook her head, tears of frustration welling up.

"You don't understand. You never come to my games. You never see how much I put into this. It's not just a game to me. It's everything."

The room fell silent, the weight of Y/N's words hanging in the air. Her parents looked at each other, their expressions softening.

"We didn't realize how important this was to you," her mother said quietly. "We're sorry if we made you feel like we don't care."

Y/N took a deep breath, trying to steady her emotions. "I just want you to see how hard I'm working. I need your support, not just criticism."

Her father nodded. "We can work on that. But you need to promise us that you'll be more mindful of your commitments. It's about balance."

Y/N felt her frustration spike again.

"Balance? You want to talk to me about balance when you never even show up to support me?" She turned on her heel and stormed towards her room. "Forget it. I'm done talking."

She slammed the door behind her, the sound echoing through the house. Her parents stood in the hallway, stunned into silence.

As Y/N lay in bed, the events of the night playing over in her mind, she felt a mix of anger and exhaustion.

Tomorrow would be a new challenge, but for tonight, she allowed herself to feel the weight of her emotions. She knew she needed to face her parents again eventually, but for now, she just wanted to be alone.
