The morning sun streamed through the large windows of Royal Woods High School as students bustled through the hallways, chatting and laughing. Y/N navigated through the crowd, heading toward her locker.

She couldn't help but notice how her friends Jane and Nia were huddled with Jonah and Malakai, two of the most popular guys in school. They seemed deep in conversation, leaving Y/N feeling a little left out.

With a sigh, Y/N turned away and made her way to her locker, where she spotted Samantha, Jocelyn, and Eddie—her other friends—waiting for her. They greeted her with warm smiles, and she felt a bit of her tension ease.

"Hey, Y/N!" Samantha called out, waving. "Come sit with us at lunch today?"

Y/N smiled back. "Yeah, sounds good. Thanks, guys."

As they headed to their first class, they passed by Lynn, Zia, and Margo, who were discussing their latest hockey practice.

Lynn caught Y/N's eye and gave her a small nod, which Y/N returned with a slight smile. There was still a bit of tension between them from the rocky practices, but they were trying to work through it.

During lunch, Y/N found herself laughing with Samantha, Jocelyn, and Eddie in the cafeteria. They talked about upcoming assignments, weekend plans, and the latest school gossip. It felt good to be among friends who weren't caught up in the popularity contest that seemed to be consuming Jane and Nia.

As they ate, Y/N noticed Jane and Nia at a table across the room, still engrossed with Jonah and Malakai. She couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment. They used to be inseparable, but lately, things had changed.

"Hey, Y/N," Samantha said, pulling her out of her thoughts. "You okay? You seem a bit distracted."

Y/N shrugged. "Yeah, just thinking about how things have changed with Jane and Nia. They've been hanging out with Jonah and Malakai a lot."

Jocelyn rolled her eyes. "Those guys? They're just a couple of show-offs. Don't let it get to you. You've got us."

Eddie nodded in agreement. "Yeah, and if they're too busy with the popular crowd, it's their loss."

Y/N smiled, grateful for their support. "Thanks, guys. I appreciate it."

Meanwhile, at the next table over, Lynn was sitting with Zia and Margo. Zia nudged Lynn and nodded toward Y/N. "You two seem to be getting along better at practice."

Lynn sighed, "Yeah, we're working on it. It's not easy, but we're getting there."

Margo smirked. "Well, from where I'm sitting, it looks like there's more than just teamwork brewing."

Lynn shot her a glare. "Cut it out, Margo. It's complicated."

After lunch, Y/N and Lynn found themselves in the same history class. They ended up working on a group project together, along with Samantha and Zia. As they collaborated, the tension between Y/N and Lynn began to ease a bit more. They were starting to find common ground, even if it was still a bit rocky.

"So, how's it going I notice you got a new group?" Lynn asked Y/N as they wrapped up their project.

Y/N glanced at Samantha, who was chatting with Zia. "It's good. They're great. Just... different from Jane and Nia."

Lynn nodded. "Yeah, I get that. Sometimes people change."

Y/N sighed. "Yeah, they do. But I guess it's just part of highschool."

Lynn smiled slightly. "Yeah, it is. But hey, at least we've got hockey, right?"

Y/N returned the smile. "Right. Hockey and... whatever crazy costumes your siblings come up with next."

Lynn laughed. "Oh, just wait. I'm sure there's more where those came from."

As the school day ended, Y/N felt a bit more hopeful. Despite the changes with Jane and Nia, she knew she had good friends in Samantha, Jocelyn, and Eddie. And maybe, just maybe, things with Lynn would keep improving too.

As she walked out of school with her friends, she spotted Lynn and her group. Lynn gave her a small wave, and Y/N waved back, feeling a sense of possibility for the future. It was still rocky, but at least they were on the right path.
