seeing all of your luggage sitting outside of the dorm that you share with olivia was devastating, but the clap of thunder that looms overhead is mortifying. every now and then the sky alights, sparking a brilliant purplish-blue, every time that the lightning chases away the thunderclaps.
if you kept track of the amount of times that you banged on the door and olivia hadn't answered, you would lose the last shred of your patience.
"olivia, please, let me in. i know that you're upset with me about what happened at the party, but-"
"what happened at the party was unforgivable, (y/n)." olivia cuts you off mid-sentence.
usually, you'd get upset with her when she'd do this to you. presently, you're grateful that she's even willing to talk to you at all, even if it is on the other side of a closed door.
"liv,"
"don't liv me, (y/n)." olivia opens the door, but it's not for the reason that you think. she's holding the matching rings that the two of you wore ever since olivia celebrated your eleventh birthday with you. "you let me make a fool of myself, droning on and on about seungcheol when you already knew him. you let me go to a party and basically throw myself at him, but that isn't even the worst part of all of this. the worst part of all of this is that you lied to me for years."
today was the one day that you forgot to put the ring on. today happens to be the day that you and olivia's friendship gets destroyed.
"liv, what are you doing with our rings?" you inquire.
olivia walks right past you, heading towards the protective railing that surrounds the dorm complex.
"i'm getting rid of them because our friendship is over." she offers a quick explanation to you, just before she chucks the rings over the railing.
although you'll probably regret it, you take advantage of olivia's distracted state. you enter the dorm room after gathering some of your belongings in your arms.
"get out of here." olivia demands.
your belongings are completely drenched, but you place them on the floor as if they're dry.
"i didn't mean to lie to you, liv. i thought that i was protecting you by not telling you about my past with seungcheol."
"no, you knew that i had no chance with him. so, you didn't feel the need to tell me anything."
you rush to defend your actions, but olivia just won't hear you. "liv, that isn't-"
"i've already asked for a new roommate, so you should leave."
olivia plucks one of your soaking wet shirts from the pile that's in the middle of the floor. she takes it back outside. she returns back to the dorm room and tries to reach for a pair of leggings before you stop her.
"olivia, you are my best friend. you've been my best friend for as long as i can remember, so please don't do this to me." venom is pumping through her face, because she looks at you like you are disgusting piece of garbage. you don't let that discourage you, though. "we can talk this out. we can go back to how things used to be and-"
"i refuse to be friends with a liar!" olivia scratches you when she throws your arm off of hers. she snatches the leggings at once. "now, get out before i call campus police officers to remove you from this dorm."
"olivia," you whimper, but olivia couldn't be bothered to notice.
she scoops the rest of your stuff up in her arms. she uses a free hand to grab you by the wrist and deposit you on the doorstep. she aims to drop all of your belongings on the ground, but luckily they fall in your open arms.
