boo seungkwan is the person that you spend lunch with most of the time. you bring him ice cream everyday. eventually, you both try all of the flavors that the ice cream shop has to offer.
the events play out similarly to how they did the first time you brought him ice cream. to your dissatisfaction, your closeness to him that day was a one time thing.
you've caught yourself slipping into scenarios where you got to be that close to him again. in the middle of classes, studying, and dreaming, your mind drifted to such crazy situations that starred you and seungkwan. all of it was starting to become overwhelming, but you swore to yourself that you didn't like him.
a bond had grown between you and seungkwan, but it wasn't the romantic kind, it was the platonic one. in the span of a few weeks, you'd gained a new friend.
"friends are much more valuable than you think, (y/n)." you called up the saying that your father would tell you each time that you start a new school year. you do this every time seungkwan smiles at you or compliments you.
today, you're on the way to the ice cream shop to get vanilla ice cream for you and seungkwan. there's a joyous bounce in the way that you walk, but the joy comes crashing down when you spot the person who's made your life a living hell for years exit a car.
wynter should be gone, attending a boarding school in france for delinquents, but here she is. you are the very reason for her speedy departure since you reported her to your school's principal for bullying you, so you have no doubt in your mind that she wants to get her revenge.
stiffness makes your legs feel like they weigh a thousand pounds each. the easy pace that you'd set with your gait becomes nonexistent. you freeze on the sidewalk, right then and there.
maybe it's fear that keeps you there or maybe it's something else that keeps your feet glued to the ground, but you can't will them to carry you forward any longer.
wynter stops short once her eyes lock into yours. "ugh, you're still here."
"wynter, it's been a long time since i've seen you. i thought that i'd never see you again, but here you are."
"no, you thought you'd succeeded in getting rid of me. well, you were wrong, ugly." wynter tries to poke new holes in healed wounds by referring to you by that horrendous nickname.
the fancy car that brought wynter to the entrance of the school drives off. the engine roars as the car gets further and further away from the both of you.
"please, don't call me that." you bargain with her.
"i'll call you what i want to call you, ugly." wynter spits. "now, this time, you won't ruin our fun like you did before. this time, you'll do as i say, and if you don't..." wynter slips her hand around your face, then she laughs as you try to free yourself from her grasp. "well, let's just say that you don't want to figure out what'll happen to you if you don't do as you're told."
"i'm not afraid of you anymore, wynter." you barely get the words out, while wynter's grip tightens on your face.
"okay," wynter releases you at once, but you know you'll pay for what you just did.
after a beat of silence passes, wynter punches you in the stomach. instinctively, your hands clutch your stomach while you fight off a yelp.
wynter lowers herself to reach your line of vision. she has the upper hand in this situation and you know it, but you can't let her see that she's defeated you. a crooked smile that's forged from wickedness sits on her face. then, she says the one thing that you wish she hadn't.
"are you sure about that?"
