I didn't know basic information about Steve, but he kept protecting me. He didn't even tell me what being he was! We didn't talk too much. He preferred being silent and mysterious. Suddenly, one day a strange idea came in my mind. We were in my room and he he was watching TV and I decided to throw at him a glass to make sure he was a real bodyguard. I took one and threw it on him. He immediately caught it without looking behind. I was impressed of his good reflexes. But then, he turned behind and looked at me with a smirk.
Steve: You don't have to test me.
He said and turned back to the TV. I sat next to him and watched the topic of the channel. Steve was watching animations. How a tough boy like him watch these things for babies? However, when I sat next to him, he switched off the television. He seemed like he was ready to hear my question.
Jennie: I really want to know who you truly are.
Steve: Ok.
Jennie: What, that's all?
Steve: You haven't trusted me enough just by throwing a glass on me. I can see it in your eyes.
I stood up without looking at him. I was very hungry at that moment so I cooked something for me. Steve was staring at the food all the time and he was clearly hungry too. I started giggling and I made him something too. While we were eating, we heard someone knocking at the door. I stood up, but then Steve passed in front of me and opened the door. When I saw the person, I was speechless. It was mum. I waved at Steve to let her get in the room. She sat down on the small sofa and looked sad. I sat next to her.
Mum: I am very sorry my Jennie. I am not a good mother.
I still stayed silent.
Mum: I shouldn't tell you this. I know I broke your heart and I am so sorry for this. I promise, I will be a better mother in the future.
Jennie: You still are. I am sorry too, I am not a good daughter.
She put my hair, behind my ear. She had never done that before. That was strange. She never looked at me into my eyes with so much passion. Something was going wrong or mum had changed her personality abruptly. Then, she looked at Steve and she made him shake hands with her.
Mum: Is that your boyfriend? Aww, my daughter is growing up so fast.
Jennie: No, he is my bodyguard. His name is Steve.
Mum looked at him happy and she hugged him. That was also something strange. She never liked to see me with a boy. For example: when I told mum that Bill was staying with us, she didn't look preety happy. Or when mum first met Bill, she didn't talk to him kindly like other mothers. So, that was for sure weird! Suddenly, an idea came to my mind. I would offer her to drink some juice - because vampires like mum hate juices- and if she drank it, she would be definetly a weirdo. I made some orange juice and gave it to her. She smelled it and then drank it! That was her final move. I was so done! Then I took her in the bathroom.
Mum: What happened sweetie?
Jennie: Mum! What's wrong with you?
Mum: What do you mean sweetheart?
Jennie: Stop these games with me. I am not a child anymore. Tell me what's going on. Your whole personality has changed in only few days! And where's dad?
Mum: Oh... Your dad is... at home. And my personality hasn't changed at all. I am the same person as you always knew me.
Jennie: Why did you accept the juice? You are a vampire. Vampires can't drink juices!
Mum: I am a unique vampire, is there a problem?
Jennie: Look, now we talk like real mother to daughter. So tell me the truth and I will let you free. No other games anymore. Ok?
Mum: Fine. When you left, I went crazy because I had lost you. I made so many efforts to find you and I finally managed to have you in front of me.
Jennie: What about Leo or Bill?
Mum: Who are they?
I stayed silent. Had she forgotten her child? Something was really wrong with mum. I went out of the bathroom worried. Steve came towards me and he asked me if everything was ok. I explained him and he seemed skeptical. He grabbed my hand and we both went to the balcony, away from mum.
Steve: So has she forgotten her own child?
Jennie: Yes, probably.
Steve: She drank a juice, she hugged me, she looked at you weirdly and she forgot her child. Something really isn't going right with that.
He stayed silent when, he raised his eyebrows, looked at me and said:
Steve: We have to leave from this apartment now.
Jennie: But why?
Steve: Explanations later.
He grabbed me and put me on his shoulder like I was a pock with potatoes! We ran out of the room without mum noticing. He was running so fast like me. We went to the same park we had met. He let me down and I started wanting information.
Jennie: Why did we leave?
Steve: That may sound crazy, but your mum isn't the person you think it is.
Jennie: What do you mean?
Steve: This isn't your mum, it's someone else!
Jennie: Oh no, I think I know who is it.
Steve: Who?
Jennie: It may be the witch who tried to kill me a few days before. Everybody wants to kill me because of my blood and tears. They are the cure to serious diseases of vampires.
Steve: I see. Now, we have to hide very well in case she doesn't find us. Come.
I followed him and we ended up outside a big old and abandoned hospital. It was giving me creepy vibes. Steve insisted on getting in there but I was disagreeing with him. It was so scary. For a reason, I felt the same feeling like when I was passing out of this old house. I felt that they had a connection those two.
