My Vampire

Part 16

Steve and Leo were stealing hating glances at each other for about 5 minutes. I was looking at the floor skeptical about what I was gonna do with those two. They kept glancing at each other when Leo broke the silence:

Leo: Jennie, I need explanations for the whole thing.

I snapped at the present and looked at Leo. He was staring at me seriously waiting for my response. I went closer and sat next to him looking into his eyes and sighed.

Jennie: It's a long story... Well, this witch kept attacking me even when I left from home. Later, I met Steve and I found out he is my brother. It's a bit complicated,you know...

Leo was looking away but still listening to my words. I felt a pang of guilt inside me for leaving from home and leaving him alone.

Jennie: I am so sorry that I left you. I shouldn't have done that. I know I hurt you and put ourselves more in trouble. That's all my fault...

I said and looked down. Steve was looking at us without saying anything. Meanwhile Leo turned his face on me and grabbed my chin pulling my face to look at his gently. He sighed and talked:

Leo: It's ok. Everyone can make mistakes. And I can say, that I made a mistake too. I made a mistake on agreeing with that witch and on letting you go. I am a bad boyfriend. You deserve better.

I looked at him relieved for not being mad at me. He started caressing my right cheek while his thumb was making circles on my skin. I smiled slightly.

Jennie: Then, I think we both made mistakes. But if we are together we can face all our problems, hm?

Leo nodded and smiled. Meanwhile, Steve was watching us a bit disgusted by the whole thing and he kept his mouth shut while me and Leo were forgiving each other sweetly. After a while, I finally noticed him and went back to my seat. I cleared my throat and took glances on both of them. Suddenly, Steve spoke up.

Steve: We have to do something about the situation. Don't you think?

He spoke seriously and looked at both of us. Me and Leo nodded.

Steve: I suggest staying here for some days because we are protected and good hidden from rivals. In addition, I have to protect you, Jennie. You are so precious for your blood and tears so I thought it would be a great chance to stay in here until we find another place to hide.

I processed his words and looked at him unsure. I didn't want to hide for my whole life.

Jennie: We can't treat to ourselves like that. Hiding at secret places will not help us beat the opponents. It will make our lives even more difficult. Instead of that, I suggest taking revenge to anyone who dares to touch us. We can't be afraid of powerless people, you know.

Steve looked at me a bit annoyed.

Steve: The life out there is very dangerous for you and life isn't a game. There are not powerless or powerful people. Anyone can trick you and make your life in danger.

I started being a bit furious about the way he explained that life is dangerous 'for me'.

Jennie: I am not a kid anymore! I can take care of myself and I don't wanna hide from anyone no more. Whether you like it or not, I am not gonna hide and show to others my weakness. You can do that on your own.

Steve furrowed his eyebrows and looked at me mad.

Steve: I am doing it for your own good! You should thank me instead of complaining.

I stood up furious.

Jennie: How can I thank you when you keep treating me like I am a kid, huh?

He stood up too and took a step closer to me.

Steve: I am the boss here and I make the decisions.

Jennie: Ha, since when?

I mocked. We kept arguing and arguing when Leo spoke up. We stopped fighting and sat down again. He seemed a bit tired from our argument.

Leo: We are only three. We should co-operate with one other instead of fighting of unimportant stuff. Look at your behavior right now. Do you think fighting over where we are gonna stay will help our situation? I don't think so.

Leo was looking at us very serious. I glanced at Steve and stayed silent. After that, I found the courage to speak.

Jennie: I think... You are right. We mustn't behave like that when we are like this.

Then, awkward silence only existed in the room. Suddenly, a thump was heard from the hallways. It was loud. I looked at both of the boys scared.

Jennie: A-aren't we alone?

They both looked at me silently. They seemed also shocked and surprised by the sudden sound.

Leo: I think I need to check the hallways.

Steve: I'll come too.

Jennie: But what about me? Will I stay here all alone?

I said anxious. They both stood up and opened the door. They looked back at me and said:

Steve: We will be back in five minutes.

Leo: Yes, don't worry. However, you know how to fight if someone attacks you, don't you?

I nodded sightly while I was biting my bottom lip. They closed the door behind me and now I was completely alone. I stood up and started walking around the room just to comfort myself. I couldn't distract myself from thinking that something was off. I continued walking inside the small room when another thump was heard from the hallways. I couldn't hold back anymore so I got out and started making small and slow steps forward. I was sweating from fear and my heart was racing fast. The boys were nowhere to be found. I started worrying more and my steps went faster. Everything were dark until a light switched on. I froze and stopped walking. I looked around the hallway slowly. My heart was pounding faster and I was sweating more. Suddenly, I felt someone hitting my neck and after this, everything went dark.

When I woke up, I tried to open my eyes but I failed because they were covered with a blindfold. I tried to move but I wasn't able either. I was placed on a chair and all tied. Suddenly, a voice heard that sounded familiar.

???: You woke up?

He said sarcastically. His voice was low and husky. After that, another voice was heard.

???: What are we gonna do with her?

I can certainly say that I have heard both of those voices in the past. They were a male and female. I decided not to talk as they could do something harmful to me. Then, I felt a hand on my jaw pulling it up. I could feel it was a man's hand. I could feel his hot breath against my skin as he leaned close to my ear and said in a lower voice which sounded like a whisper:

???: You are gonna pay for what you did and your blood will become mine.

He then chuckled and got his hand off me. The man pulled out the blindfold. I winked slowly as I could finally see the man's face. I let out a small gasp as he revealed his face. It was Mark.
