My Vampire

Part 18

I knew no one was gonna be there for us. Neither my step parents nor Billy. They didn't know anything about it. I was feeling mixed feelings about that moment. They were fighting for about 20 minutes trying to kill each other. While I was into panic, I noticed the thrown sword next to Leo's legs. I knew I was gonna risk myself for those two but I had no other choice. With quick moves I grabbed it and got their attention.

Steve: What do you think you are doing?

I didn't give an answer to his question. I stayed silent and looked at both of them uncertain for my next move. I swallowed and approached the sword closer to me. Leo seemed that had already lost his mind. He was hungry and couldn't think clearly. The vampire inside him was ordering him to bite me until I die. However, another part of himself hadn't lost the control.

Leo: Kill me. I am the one who is gonna cause the whole problem. Do it before it's too late.

I was looking at them with teary eyes. I couldn't talk. The atmosphere among us was tense.  I tried to talk but I could only stutter by the whole thing.

Jennie: I-I... can't...

Leo was looking at me like he was urging me to kill him with no mercy.

Leo: Do it or else I am gonna bite you. I wanna be killed by you and not by Steve. You are the love of my life and I want YOU to kill me.

Steve was watching our conversation speechless. I couldn't control my sadness and kneeled down and the only thing that could be heard in the room was my sobs.

Jennie: I-I can't kill you Leo... I love you, I can't let myself do that to you. I don't want to lose you...

I whispered. Tears started flowing on Leo's cheeks. He glanced at Steve and asked permission if he could approach me. Steve sighed and slowly nodded letting him take some steps closer to me. As Leo came closer, he reached out a hand wanting to touch my hand for maybe the last time. I looked up at him. I gave him my hand and he helped me stand up. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer.

Leo: I don't want to lose you either, beautiful. You must live. You must continue living.

I wrapped my arms around his shoulder. I buried my face on his chest and started crying. He softly grabbed my chin and made me look at his eyes.

Jennie: Leo, I don't-

He silenced me by giving me a soft kiss on the lips. I kissed him back for the last time. I pulled back to face him.

Jennie: Promise me... That you'll always be with me. Promise me.

Leo instead of crying he smiled at me with a sympathetic look.

Leo: I promise. I will never leave you alone. I will always be by your side.

He let me go from his hug but I didn't want to let him. However, I had to do leave from him for our own good. I slowly grabbed the fallen silver sword and pointed it at him. I started crying. Leo however, never stopped smiling.

Jennie: I love you, Leo...

He widened his smile but his tears in his eyes were betraying his true feelings.

Leo: I love you too, Jennie...

He whispered at me. With a final move, I put the sword inside his body. The smile on his lips was stuck there even if he was killed. His body fell down in front of me. I threw the sword away creating a loud thump. I ran to Leo and started crying more. I cupped his face with my hands. Leo caressed my cheek gently.

Leo: Don't forget me.

He whispered once more looking deeply into my eyes.

Jennie: I won't, my love... I swear, I won't.

We kissed for the last time and after five minutes Leo left his last breath to Earth. He had died. I started crying and screaming in pain. Steve was watching me and a tear fell from his eye. He approached me and kneeled down with me. He wrapped his hands around me and pulled me into his hugs. I couldn't stop crying. I buried my face into Steve's neck and wrapped my hands around him too. He started caressing my hair softly.

Steve: It was for your own good...

I didn't answered him. I continued crying in his lap. Steve pulled me a bit away from his hug but he was still holding me and made me look at him.

Steve: Leo did all of these to see you happy in the future. He will always be by your side. He did it because he loved you. Do you know why he was smiling even if you murder him? Because, that was the last thing he could give you happiness in the future. Never forget him because you deserved a person like him in your life. He was a right example for you.

After telling me all of these, he pulled me closer and started caressing my hair again. I was very proud that I could have a boyfriend like him but also frustrated because, I couldn't continue my life with him and make a family with him or die together.
