!!Prologue, 4 - No More Kyle Sterling

Athena and Kyle managed to date for an entire school semester before everything spiraled out of control.

For five wonderful months, their romance blossomed and bloomed in ways neither Kyle nor either of the Akiyama siblings had expected.

Though they weren't open with their relationship at Pennystone Academy, Kyle, who used to be just an infamous delinquent, quickly became popular as he rolled into school on the first day with both Akiyama siblings strolling closely by his side.

Naturally, the Akiyama siblings were immediately popular at Pennystone, being the children of prominent figures in the fashion and modeling industries. And naturally, everyone was curious to know how a skatepunk like Kyle Sterling had befriended two celebrity children such as the Akiyamas – making the three of them the talk of school before lunchtime.

As the school year went on, and the Akiyama siblings formed their own friends, they always returned to their group of three at lunchtime, and at the end of the day, making their close-knit group of three popular gossip amongst students. Everyone wanted to know what they'd be up to next.

However, no one expected it to all end after winter break.

For Christmas, Haru allowed his son to invite one friend over to celebrate with them, and of course, even without Athena's pleading eyes, Aru was going to invite Kyle.

Kyle showed up with two gift bags, one for Aru, and the other for Athena. He stepped inside and greeted his best friend with a firm hug, then greeted his secret girlfriend with a gentle hug and a quick peck on the cheek.

Haru, who had walked over with his wife and kids to greet Kyle at the door, found his behavior somewhat odd, but brushed it off, assuming he was just being polite – especially when he stepped forward to greet Olivia with a kiss on the back of her hand. As for Haru, he respectfully shook his hand in a firm handshake.

Haru nodded approvingly.

They all headed to their spacious living room, where they began exchanging gifts. Most of the gifts were from Haru to Olivia and Aru, with a few being from Aru to his mother, father, and Athena. One present from Olivia to her husband and each of her children.

Haru hadn't bothered to give Athena anything that year, however, but she was used to that. Each year for Christmas, she either got no presents from him, or she got a new dress from his latest designs.

Then came Kyle's presents.

Haru and Olivia had decided to pitch in and get Kyle a brand new expensive phone, as well as new shoes and an expensive letterman brand jacket. Kyle's emerald green eyes lit up at the expensive gifts – he'd never owned anything nearly as nice as what they'd just given him.

Aru had gotten him a stupid yet meaningful gift – a figurine collection set from the superhero movie they'd watched together the day after they'd met. Though both boys laughed at how stupid the gift was, Kyle was appreciative nonetheless and hugged his best friend.

Athena, instead of giving him a gift, leaned over and whispered into his ear, "I got you something, but... maybe I can give it you, just us?"

Kyle smiled and nodded in response, then held up Aru's blue gift bag. "Here. I hope you like it."

Aru reached into the gift bag and pulled out a wrapped gift. Unwrapping it revealed a figurine of the main superhero from the superhero movie. Kyle smirked at him. "I couldn't get you the full set, but, I had the same thing in mind when I bought your gift."
