Week 3 (Weekend)

I ended up texting my driver, Kaelyn, that I didn't need a ride home today. After the game, Aso and I got ice cream. I ended up getting mint chocolate chip, and he got chocolate-vanilla swirl. Then he dropped me off at home, and when his car slowed to a stop in front of the gates to the Akiyama estate, the gates opened to let us in, and Aso whistled as we drove up to the mansion.

"Jesus," he commented, "I knew you were loaded, but damn, this is some next level rich!"

I giggled at his reaction. "Yeah, most people say similar things when they visit the Akiyama estate for the first time."

"Sheesh," Aso said. "Man, I'd love to see inside, too, but..."

"I know," I said, "I'd invite you in if you had the time."

He scratched the back of his neck. "Yeah, I'd love to, but I gotta get home, too. Family dinner."

"I get it. I'll see you at school?"

"Oh, absolutely." He leaned forward, and when I realized he was trying to kiss me, I panicked and turned, and his kiss landed on my cheek instead. Looking awkward as he pull away, he chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck again. "I'll uh, see you later then?"

"Sounds good. Have a good evening, Aso."

"You too, Athena-sama."

Rolling my eyes at the goddess nickname when my back was turned, I hopped out of the car and offered Aso one final smile and a wave before heading inside.

I sighed as I ascended the stairs, heading left instead of right, going to Aru's bedroom instead of mine. With all the male attention — attention in general, if I'm being honest — I was getting a little overwhelmed being the Goddess of Akademi. It was... exhausting. And I desperately needed to rant about it all to my brother.

However, as I approached Aru's room, I could hear a video game and more than just Aru speaking, two voices flowing into the hallway through his wide open door.

Aru wasn't alone. Was Osorō still here?

I tiptoed as silently as a mouse until I was right next to Aru's door. The sound of the game being paused went off, followed by a familiar voice asking my brother a question.

"Why did ya insist so hard on being friends with me, anyway?"

My eyes widened. Osorō's actually still here? In my brother's room, too?

A quick peek inside the room proved me right — there, next to my brother, both backs turned as they sat in front of the TV, was Osorō, still wearing his white jacket, his hair tied back into a low, tiny ponytail. It was kinda cute.

Returning to my original positon to eavesdrop, I listened as Aru replied, "Well, I dunno. I guess you kinda remind me of my old best friend. His name was Kyle."

My heart sank at the mention of Kyle. How long had it been since Aru or I even spoke his name out loud?

Not long enough, it seemed, as a few stray tears silently rolled down my cheeks.
