Week 2

When the bell for lunchtime finally rang, someone came up behind me and swiftly grabbed my hand and bento box, then rushed me out of the classroom. At first, I thought it was Osorō, and adrenaline began coursing through me, but glancing at the tall, tan figure leading me through the halls proved me wrong — it was Aso Rito.

I'd never noticed it before, but Aso didn't wear the school's black and red blazer. Instead, all he had was a yellow jacket tied around his waist.

"A-Aso, what are you—?"

"Shh," he hissed, cutting me off. I sighed, allowing him to lead me on without trying to say another word.

Eventually, he pushed open the doors to the school roof, stopping to pull me to sit at a bench that was positioned somewhat out of the way. The secludedness of it tinted my cheeks pink as I sat down next to him.

Before I could ask him anything, he began interrogating me. "Sorry about that, but are you okay? That delinquent punk isn't threatening you, is he?"

I blinked. "Huh?"

"You looked kinda uncomfortable when that jerk kept touching your hair. Are you alright?"

"O-oh," I muttered. I hesitated, considering what I should say that could test my potential compatibility with Aso without also ruining the bond I was beginning to form with Osorō.

Because it wasn't that I didn't want to be involved with Osorō; I did, and besides, it was too late to not be involved with him since he knew my darkest secret. The difference was that being romantically involved with him was out of the question, so I needed to focus my attention elsewhere before it was too late.

"No, it's nothing like that, I promise," I finally said. "I just... wasn't expecting that from someone like him, I guess. I don't know why he has an interest in me; I've only run into him maybe... once or twice?"

Aso nodded, seeming to accept my words as a logical explanation. "Just be careful around him; he's dangerous. Promise me, okay?"

Trust me, Aso, I know. "I promise."

He smiled. "Thanks. Now, let's eat!"

We dug into our bento boxes, enjoying our lunches in a comfortable silence at first, until Aso asked, "So, you joined the drama club Friday?"

Between bites, I nodded. When my mouth was empty, I said, "Yeah, I did. I figured I'd enjoy it the most out of all the options."

"I understand, though I am kinda bummed you didn't join my club," he added, smirking and elbowing my side playfully.

I giggled. "Sorry. I'm not very athletic."

He shrugged. "I was mostly joking, anyway. Not everyone is into sports and stuff, but I hope you'll come watch us sometime. Right now, we're preparing for a track meet, and then we've got a basketball skirmish against the sports club at Shisuta High School next weekend." He smiled at me before adding, "If you're free, maybe you could come?"

I smiled. "I'd love to. As far as I know, I'm available. You'll have to text me the details."

"Yeah, absolutely! It's next Saturday."
