"Get out of our house! You're no daughter of ours. And don't you ever come back, you filthy whore!"
Slam!
The heavy wooden door slammed shut behind the girl that had just gotten tossed out onto the sidewalk, soaked in seconds as the pouring rain showed her no mercy. Thunder rumbled in the distance, startling the poor girl into letting out a yelp. She eventually forced herself to stand, hugging her arms around herself.
Since she was clearly no longer welcome in that home, she now owned nothing but the clothes on her back – and that wasn't saying much, since all she was wearing were a pair of denim shorts and a gray cropped hoodie.
It was a warm, stormy April day when the eighteen year old shakily called her boyfriend to inform him she was pregnant... only to be met with a harsh breakup and the sound of him hanging up on her. Her parents, who had eavesdropped on her conversation and put the pieces together, yelled at her and immediately kicked her out.
She was homeless.
She sighed. The least she could do was hold her head high and try to press onwards through the rain. She had a few friends she could stay with, if she could just remember how to get there on foot...
Tying her long, wet blonde hair up into a messy bun, she pulled her hood over her head and began to walk. The rain poured on, and occasionally, she could see and hear lightning strike, thunder crackling a warning to her as the sky continued to darken: find shelter.
It wasn't long before the blonde woman realized she was lost, however. None of her friends lived in such a nice neighborhood like the one she'd just stumbled into... but she'd been so deep in thought that she'd become horribly lost, and had no clue how to find her way out of the rows and rows of various mansion after mansion.
Out of nowhere, a white limo slowed to a stop next to her. Startled and scared by the sudden vehicle stopping next to her, she backed away from it as the back door opened, revealing a dashing man about her age or older with dark hair and sharp eyes – concerned eyes, the woman realized as he hesitantly approached her.
"Are... are you okay?" the man asked, his Japanese accent apparent as he hesitantly spoke English to her. Was he still learning the language? The woman wondered.
"I'm... fine," she replied, unsure if she could trust him. Concerned stranger or not... he was still a stranger.
"Can I give you a ride?" the man slowly offered. Upon noticing her narrowing eyes, he elaborated, "N-nothing weird! Just, it's pouring, and you're soaked. You'll get sick."
Somewhat touched by this stranger's kindness, the woman decided to admit, "To be honest, I'm lost and I don't know how I got here..." She hesitated before adding, "And my parents just kicked me out..."
The man's handsome face turned into one of sympathy as he frowned, feeling sorry for her. "Can I offer you a coffee, then? My butler has this Colombian blend he made, it's really good. You can tell me what you want... or just enjoy the coffee." Noticing her continued hesitance, he offered an understanding smile and decided to say, "I understand. I'm Haru Akiyama, by the way. Can I bring you to a friend's, then?"
Finally feeling more comfortable, the woman nodded and released a breath she didn't realize she'd been holding. "Sure. That'll be fine. My name is Olivia. Olivia Jackson."
