AFTER A few moments of contemplation, I decided to confront Grandma Chiyo just like Mikey had advised me to the night before.

I hadn't changed my pajamas ever since I left my boyfriend's place as my wet clothes were still in the hamper. Mikey had completely forgotten to tell his younger sister, Emma, to wash them the following morning and apologized to me. I just told him it wasn't a problem at all and should be the one to apologize for the inconvenience I've caused him and his family.

I walked to the closet for a quick change and tossed my pajamas directly into the washing machine for a wash later. I also had my light breakfast of French toast and milk before heading out of the house and to Grandma's cafe shop. I texted her beforehand that I'd be stopping by the cafe even if I wasn't on working duty today.

The morning sky turned grey and gloomy as I was walking along the pavement, mirroring the bitterness I felt in my heart. I was mulling over how to approach Grandma Chiyo once I arrived at the cafe. Should I address the issue to her directly? Or should I try to act mellow first and smooth things out with her later on?

Nevertheless, I was still trying to think positively that maybe, Mikey was right. Perhaps Grandma was only looking out for me. That's why she hid the truth away from me. And not because of some selfish reasons.

"Oh, hey, Y/N-chan! Good morning!" Sayaka-san greeted me gaily with a smile as she saw me entering the cafe shop. "What are you doing here? You're not on duty today. Are you here for Chiyo-san?"

I answered her with a timid nod and meekly asked, "Where's Grandma, Sayaka-san? Is she here?"

"Yes, she's in the staff room. You can go see her."

"Okay, thanks."

I continued my way toward the staff room and knocked on the door first before I pushed it open and went inside.

"Grandma?"

I spotted Grandma Chiyo sitting alone at the table and was sipping on a cup of her favorite tea. She raised her head once she heard my voice and smiled warmly the moment she saw me. "Oh, it's you, Y/N-chan. What brings you here, sweetie?"

I pulled a chair for myself and sat down across her. My heart was pounding fast out of nervousness. "I just wanted to talk to you about something." I tried to act calm and not sound rude.

"Oh, what is it, dear?" Grandma Chiyo set her cup down and stared at me quietly, waiting for me to continue.

I was fiddling with my fingers on the table. I honestly did not know how to begin our conversation without getting emotional. I was afraid of putting words into my mouth that might offend her.

Grandma seemed to have sensed my hesitation and her visage melted into a tender look. "No need to be shy, Y/N. You can tell your grandma anything," she prompted. "Is there a problem?"
