11. Braces

You have braces and I don't and I keep forgetting you're not allowed to have gum so every time I offer, you give this death glare

{let's imagine young middle school friends}

"Do you have anything else?" A boy with long brown hair asked.

"Uh I got jolly ranchers, hubba bubba, sugar daddies, and 5 gum." An 12 year old Kakashi answers. "Do you want some gum?"

"You know I can't have gum, 'Shi, my dentist already got on to me for eating popcorn!"

"That's not my fault! You were the one who said it will be fine!" Kakashi retorted, his face scrunching up in anger. "I told you it was a bad idea! That's what happened to Iwashi! He ate popcorn and it messed it teeth all up!"

"Yeah yeah, I know, I still can't believe he keeps up that story. Saying he ate popcorn and it screwed it all up where in reality he was just playing on his skateboard and a butterfly flew into his face and scared him causing him to stumble and fall off!" Iruka giggled, his hand covering his mouth.

"Why do you do that?" Kakashi asked, slightly blushing.

"Do what?"

"Cover your mouth when you laugh"

"I don't know, it's just a habit I guess." Iruka shrugs, grabbing Kakashi's bag of candy and searching through it. "You have bad candy"

"Maybe you just have bad luck!"

"Why do you say that?" Iruka made a face as he pulled out a melted jolly rancher and put it aside.

"Because you got braces and you can only eat certain things"

Iruka stuck his tongue out, "one day you're gonna get them and you're gonna suffer like me! Maybe you get those giant headgear ones!" Iruka laughed!

"Yeah yeah whatever, at least I don't have them now!"

"Mr Umino and Mr Hatake, will you please be quiet?" The librarian, Mr Sarutobi questioned, putting a book on the cart. The two nodded in sync.

"I'm gonna ask Asuma if he wants to trade" Kakashi sighed as he took the bag back and walked towards his friend. Iruka nodded, getting back to the homework he was supposed to be doing.

The young Hatake returned a few moments later.

"Anything new?"

"Yeah want a different flavor of gum?" Kakashi chuckled, showing his friend the packet.

Iruka glared, his eyebrows lowered and his face emotionless, "I hate you."

"You love me" Kakashi smiled, handing Iruka Reese's.

Iruka smiled slightly as he saw the candy being pushed his way out of the corner of his eye. "It's starting to feel like it..."he said under his breath.
