12. Eye of the Tiger

Person A is training for a marathon. While out running, Person B follows them in their car with the speakers blasting out "Eye of the Tiger."

"I really appreciate this, Guy" Iruka said into his phone as he held it between his shoulder and ear as he put on his shoes.

"Oh it's nothing! I'm glad I was able to assist you in your journey to find the joy that is youth! Not many people enjoy this except young Rock Lee, so I'm ecstatic that I can help! You'll be able to fly through the marathon in no time! 3 miles? More like 3 feet after I help you train!" The voice on the other end announced. Might Guy was one of the school teacher's best friends. Though they weren't particularly close, Iruka considered him one since the PE teacher did not have many.

"I think that's pushing it a bit, Guy! But I appreciate your enthusiasm! I'm gonna run a mile and a half today, just to see if I get winded and how far along I get winded. I ate like ten of those nutrition breakfast snacks and meals that you suggested this past couple days, so I'm hoping that they get put to good use, you know?" The young teacher glanced down at his watch before continuing. "I hate to say this, Guy, but Kakashi comes home around 2 and I don't know how long it will take me so I better get going. I'll tell you how it went afterwards. Thank you once again!"

"Nah it's no biggy! I get it! But please do tell me the result, I'm eager to know if I helped you get closer to your goal! Good bye Iruka!"

"Bye, Might!" Iruka smiled as he ended the call. It took some motivation but the tan skinned man finally pushed himself to stretch and get out the door without procrastinating. He started at a slow jog, practically a fast walk. After the brisk pace, he sped up when turning down 'Kunai Avenue'.

A couple vehicles passed him as well as a few of the city's people who didn't work on Saturday. After an hour or so after completing his goal, he decide to continue to see how far he can go before he could get winded.

"Risin' up, back on the streets..."

Iruka heard distantly but dismissed it as a passing car with loud music playing.

"Did my time, took my chances..."

'Okay maybe the car has the music really loud and they're just parked somewhere.' The man thought to himself, completely oblivious to the black jeep driving beside him.

"Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet. Just a man and his will to survive..."

'Okay, this is getting ridiculous!' Iruka thought to himself, slowing down to catch his breath. As he stretched he saw the jeep out of the corner of his eye and smirked.

".....don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past, you must fight just to keep him alive."

"Do you play this song to all your boyfriends?" Iruka asked to the driver as they rolled down the windows.

"Well I don't think Asuma's my boyfriend, well not yet." Kakashi smiled, pushing up his sunglasses to look at the runner. "Say, do you think I could pick up some hot ones with this song?"

"Depends on if you find me hot or not" Iruka joked, shifting his weight to his other leg and taking the bottled water Kakashi held out.

"Looks like I gotta find a different one to play!"

"Oh shut up. How was work?"

"Not bad, Hiruzen's up my ass, Ebisu keeps stealing my snacks from my desk, and Iwashi keeps sending me pictures of him dressed up like me." Kakashi sighed, running his hand through his hair.

"That's great...I suppose, well I'm gonna run home. Meet you there?"

"Maybe, love ya"

"Love you too."

Iruka smiled as watched the jeep turn down a road, not the one to their house but he dismissed it.

'Lets do this!' He thought to himself.

As soon as the young teacher passed Shippuden Alley, he knew he had a supporter.

"It's the eye of the tiger, it the thrill of the fight, rising up to the challenge of our our rival. And the last known survivor stalks his prey on the night..."

Kakashi smiled, lip singing along to the song as he watched the pony tailed man run by, a small smile at his lips.

"And he's watching us all with the eye! Of the tiger...."
