"So... I watched Ellen," Tegan's mother said as the two of them sat in the living room of her childhood home. She decided to drive up to Big Bear Lake to visit her parents for a few days to keep her mind off of Harry, but she should have known it was going to be impossible with her overzealous mother around.

"Mm-hmm," Tegan hummed into her Starbucks coffee that she picked up on the way there. Her mother sent her a suggestive look and Tegan nearly choked on the sip she just took.

"What?" She asked her mother incredulously.

"What do you mean 'what'? You know what," her mom told her. Tegan couldn't help but smile, biting at her lip, thinking about the man she had the pleasure of spending an amazing night and morning with a week before.

"Harry Styles," her mom continued.

"What about him?" Tegan asked, smiling from ear-to-ear, being evasive on purpose.

"Oh, you're infuriating! Just tell me!" Her mom growled through a laugh, swatting at her daughter's shoulder. Tegan let out a laugh in response.

"I met Harry Styles," Tegan told her vaguely.

"You met Harry Styles!" Her mom repeated enthusiastically.

"Uh, yeah. Uh..." Tegan stammered and her mom looked at her impatiently for elaboration.

"Um, it was..." Tegan began, letting out a laugh.

"A dream come true?" Her mom finished for her.

Her parents had to put up with a lot of One Direction between Tegan and her two sisters during their adolescence. Her mother knew how much Harry Styles meant to her, even as an adult.

"To put it lightly, yes," Tegan said, feeling her cheeks flush at the thought of her time with Harry.

"I could tell how surprised you were to see him. You really didn't know he was there?"

"No idea. I was... I almost died, Mom. I swear."

"I saw! I freaked out when I watched it. I swear, your dad thought I was being murdered. He came running in, asking what the hell was happening."

Tegan couldn't help but laugh.

"I had to rewind to have him watch it. He wasn't as excited as me, but he was happy that you got to meet your idol," her mother explained.

"Yeah," Tegan said. It sounded so weird now, to consider Harry her 'idol'. After the past week and a half, he was definitely much more than that.

"I still can't believe you told that reporter about the cardboard cut-out of him in your room here," her mom laughed amusingly.

"I didn't expect it to be broadcasted on national television!"

"You were so embarrassed," her mom pointed out.

"I don't think 'embarrassed' is a strong enough word," Tegan said, rolling her eyes and her mom let out a boisterous laugh.

"But, I mean, it all worked out in the end," Tegan said, looking down at her phone in the palm of her hand, willing Harry to text or call because she missed him. But she knew he was busy in New York.

"What does that mean?"

"What does what mean?" Tegan asked, her thoughts of Harry already wiping away the conversation she was having with her mother.

"'It all worked out in the end'."

"Oh, uh..." Tegan stammered, her cheeks heating up as she bit her bottom lip.
