Destiny wasn't sure why she agreed to hang out with Dayvon that afternoon, but something about his persistence made it hard to say no.

He'd been blowing up her phone, talking about how he wanted to get out and have some fun, and after the stress of work and the mess with Durk, she figured why not

. It wasn't like she owed Durk anything, right? Especially since he still had his thing with India. She tried to push away the guilt creeping in as she got ready to head to the arcade.

Dayvon was already waiting outside when she pulled up, leaning against his car, hoodie pulled low over his eyes. He was always moving lowkey, paranoid even, and she understood why he always had some heat on him. He grinned when he saw her, that mischievous smile that always made her laugh, even when she didn't want to.

"Aye, you clean today," Dayvon said, looking her up and down, his eyes lingering for a second too long. "What you tryna do, impress me?"

Destiny rolled her eyes, smiling despite herself. "Nah, just wanted to look cute. You know how it is."

They walked into the arcade together, the lights flashing and the sound of games buzzing around them. Dayvon kept his hoodie on, pulling it tighter around his face as they moved through the crowd. Every few minutes, he'd glance over his shoulder, scanning the room like he was expecting something to pop off.

"I can't even be seen like that, you know?" Dayvon said as they walked up to the basketball game. "I got niggas that want me dead, shorty. I gotta stay low."

Destiny shot him a look. "You always gotta be extra."

"Extra? Nah, I'm just tryna stay out the way," he said, grabbing a ball and chucking it towards the hoop.

"You know how it is in the streets. Ain't nobody playing fair no more."

Destiny nodded. She knew what he was talking about, but sometimes she wished he'd stop being so deep in it. Life with Dayvon was always on the edge, like he was ready for anything to go down at any moment.

They spent the rest of the afternoon laughing and goofing around, hitting all the games in the arcade. Dayvon was competitive as hell, always talking smack every time he won, and Destiny couldn't help but have fun with him.

It was easy with Dayvon there wasn't all the confusion and drama like there was with Durk. It was simple. Chill. At least for now.

As they were leaving, Dayvon pulled out his phone, snapping a quick pic of them. "Let the streets know I'm still out here," he joked, posting it to his story.

Destiny laughed, shaking her head. "You wild."

But inside, she felt that tug of guilt again. She knew Durk was probably going to see it. Not that it mattered. Or at least, that's what she kept telling herself.

Later that night, Destiny was chilling at her place, scrolling through her phone when her screen lit up with a text. It was Durk.

Durkio: Be at my crib before I get there. 10:40.
