Destiny had been trying to keep her head down and stay focused on work. After everything that went down with Durk, she needed the distraction.
The kids at the pre-K always managed to brighten her mood, and in those moments, she felt far removed from the chaotic mess of her personal life.
But lately, she'd been spending more time with Von, who had this way of making things feel simpler, even though deep down she knew nothing about her situation was simple.
It started small random hangouts, late night texts, and then, of course, the day he gifted her the pink Glock. Destiny had been freaked out at first, her nerves getting the best of her as she held the gun in her hands for the first time.
"I don't know if I'm built for this, Von," she had laughed, her hands shaking slightly as she aimed at the makeshift target he set up.
Von, standing close behind her, grinned.
"Nah, you got this. Just keep your hands steady, aim, and don't overthink it. Ain't no one messin' with you if you got this."
She tried to relax, his words soothing her nerves a little. But even as she pulled the trigger and the shot rang out, she couldn't shake the unease that settled deep in her chest. Guns weren't her thing, and Von knew that, but it was his way of looking out for her.
Today, though, she wasn't thinking about guns or work. Today was about fun. She had just finished getting ready for one of Ari's after-parties, thrown after Metro Boomin and Future's concert, and she was feeling herself.
It wasn't every day she got to let loose, and she loved Metro, so the excitement was real. Destiny stared at herself in the mirror, adjusting her outfit she was rocking a cute red crop top, paired with a mini skirt that hugged her curves just right.
The YSL heels added an extra inch or two, giving her the confidence boost she needed. Her look was completed with the YSL bag that Von had gifted her recently, and it tied everything together perfectly.
She checked her phone and saw a few texts from Ari in the group chat, hyping up the night and reminding her of the VIP section they'd have. Destiny smiled, already full of anticipation.
Grabbing her things, she double-checked her reflection before heading out the door. The Uber ride to the club was short, and when she arrived, the music was already booming from inside, the heavy bass vibrating through the sidewalk.
She stepped out, and just as she was about to head in, she got a text from Von:
Von: You better have that Glock in that YSL bag. Ain't tryna hear you out here wildin' without it.
Destiny rolled her eyes but smiled to herself. Von was always looking out for her in his own way. She didn't carry the gun with her that often it just didn't feel like her but tonight, she made sure it was tucked in her bag. You could never be too careful, and Von's voice echoed in her mind.
