Chapter 2- Snowflake :)

Carly's Pov
It was Salem's third day I noticed she never really stopped for a break she was always helping out. I was rather worried for her I wanted to tell Marjorie but she was always on the phone so I assumed she was busy. Autumn is scary to approach and Char isn't here so it's up to me. Salam was updating the app informing parents what their child hasn't been up to it was peaceful. All the kids were asleep how on earth did she do it? Oh bless her she looks exhausted. I sit in front of Salem hoping she will perk up and noticed me. I give her a few minutes before waving my hands getting her attention. "Salem do you want to share my meal deal?" Salem's face looks confused then shakes her head. "No no it's yours I'll eat later" I look defeated she hasn't stopped before so why would it changed now? Why is she avoiding eating? She has time to eat though. Does she feel guilty taking time for herself? "Salem?" Salem hums a response. "Hm?" I throw the bag of crisps at her hitting her in the face. "For me please?" Salem laughs and sighs. "Fine fine please don't throw the sandwich at me as well, half the bag of crisps yeah?" I smiled nodding. "Yeah do you want to pick your sandwich slice?" Salem shakes her head. "It's your sandwich pick the bit you want" I knew Salem knows about my eating disorder she seems very aware of things going on in the nursery. "Thank you" Salem mumbles and I scooted the remaining sandwich slice. Did Salem have a eating disorder? She definitely has a self worth problem as she puts everyone first. I smile as Salem had finally stopped she was taking a well deserved break. She perked up as she heard a toddler crying she was ready to sprint there. "I got it!" I shouted getting up before Salem got up. "Stay seated and rest you have done enough" Salem sighs and nods.

Autumn's Pov
I leave the office to check on the staff it seemed quiet that has never occurred before and I couldn't bare with Marjorie's flirting anymore. Plus I did relpy to all the emails that were important. I notice Salem sitting on her own she looked exhausted. I gently pay her shoulder. "You alright?" I feel Salem flinch, her face made it clear that she prayed I didn't notice. I allow it to slide I didn't want to make her more uncomfortable then she is. Also if she is anything like Charlotte she will talk about it if it is major so it is clear something else is on her mind. "Salem?" Salem eyes were watery "Sorry, what's up Autumn?" She croaks out. I look at her concerned. "You tell me Salem" Salem's shrugs "Nothing in particular Autumn just a lot going on and I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm causing so much pain" I don't do great with emotions. So I do something that shouldn't make her feel uncomfortable and not physically touching her. I ruffle her hair as I have a hunch something deeper is going on the way she flinch before she looked terrified. "You causing pain? You are a softie anything you do is with good intention you follow your mother. Sweet, innocent, caring and gentle like a snowflake" Salem chuckles at snowflake. "There we go that's better you actually smiled today. Stop fake smiling so people think you are okay Carly is aware something is wrong. I'm also aware and it won't take long for Marjorie either. If I don't see improvements with you I will contact Charlotte. A good place to start is actually take your breaks, there are in place for reason Salem." Salem nods. "I understand thank you Autumn" I smiled at Salem she didn't seem afraid of me but I suppose I haven't given a reason to fear me. Oh I feel sick I was nice for once I'm glad Marjorie didn't witness this as she would used it against me forever. I ruff Salem's hair again "You can speak if you need to, I won't get all emotional like Marjorie would and I won't inform your mum unless it's absolutely necessary like if you are in danger. Alright Snowflake?" Salem smiles and how I described Marjorie reactions seemed like she agreed. "Please don't ring my mum she has enough going on and that's going to stick isn't?" I grab the tablet "Yes I'm going to make sure your nickname sticks and I won't call Char unless needed." I scan the tablet "Impressive you actually managed to make notes of everything the kids have done so far, well done Snowflake. Now tell me how you manage to them all to sleep without no issues" Salem shrugs thinking she didn't do anything special. "All I did was hum the lullaby my mum would hum me and they were out like a light" I look at the clock. "Well you did very well Salem I'm sure your mum will be proud of you as you seem natural with this now get out of here Snowflake your shift as finished" Salem smiles and waves bye to me, Carly and knocks on the office door then waving bye to Marjorie. "Oh Goodbye my love thank you for today see you tomorrow!" Marjorie shouts as Salem leaves the nursery.

I hope you enjoy this chapter I'm trying set up Salem's character before progressing and having the big dramas hit.
