THURSDAYSloane woke up with a slight headache but more importantly, she woke up in a bed that wasn't hers, alone and in her underwear.
And like a truck, all the memories from the previous night came back to her.
She propped herself up on one elbow, taking in the room. It was so obviously Paiges, neatly organized, books stacked on the desk, a few basketball posters on the walls. Her heart raced as memories of what they were doing in this bed just hours earlier and confessions from the party flooded back. The night had been a blur of sex and alcohol but now, in the clear light of day, Sloane felt a twinge of anxiety. What did it all mean for them?
The door creaked open, and Sloane's breath hitched. Paige stepped in, carrying two steaming mugs of coffee. Her hair was slightly disheveled, and she wore an oversized T-shirt and shorts, looking effortlessly beautiful.
"Morning," Paige said softly, offering one of the mugs to Sloane.
"Morning," Sloane replied, accepting the coffee with a grateful smile. The warmth of the mug seeped into her hands, grounding her.
Paige sat on the edge of the bed, her expression a mix of nerves and determination. "We should probably talk about last night."
Sloane nodded, taking a sip of her coffee to buy herself a moment to gather her thoughts. "Yeah, we should."
Paige sighed, setting her mug on the nightstand. "I don't want to make things awkward between us, Sloane. Last night was... amazing, and I dont regret anything I said but I think we need to be clear about what we want."
Sloane's heart pounded as she searched for the right words. "I don't regret anything I said... or did either but I don't want to rush into anything and mess things up.
Paige nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "So, we take things slow? See where this goes?"
"Yeah, slow sounds good," Sloane agreed, relief washing over her. The tension in the room eased, and she felt a sense of calm settling between them.
Then, Paige stood up and walked over to her closet, rummaging through it. She pulled out a soft, oversized hoodie and a pair of sweatpants.
"Here," she said, handing the clothes to Sloane. "You can keep these. So you don't have too do the walk of shame in your outfit from last night."
Sloane laughed, taking the clothes. "Thank you"
As she changed into the hoodie and sweatpants, she felt a sense of warmth and belonging. The clothes were a little big on her because of the height difference but they were comfortable and carried Paige's scent, a comforting reminder of their connection.
When she was dressed, she looked over at Paige, who was watching her with a soft, affectionate smile. "You look good in my clothes," Paige remarked, her tone teasing.
Sloane rolled her eyes playfully. "Yeah, yeah. Don't get used to it."
Paige chuckled, moving closer to press a gentle kiss to Sloane's cheek. "I'll see you later for our tutoring session?"
"Definitely," Sloane replied, feeling happy she remembered.
Sloane walked back to her dorm, the oversized hoodie and sweatpants, Her mind buzzed with the events of the night and the morning conversation with Paige. They had agreed to take things slow, to see where their connection might lead. It felt right, but she couldn't shake the nervous excitement that bubbled within her.
