E V A R A

"Evara, you should eat something" Maa said bringing me out of my thoughts.

I gave a nod and started eating the pineapple.
We are in Chandigarh, Thankfully Dada and Dadi stay here, they have shifted here since past 4 years so now I can meet them whenever I want.

Papa didn't tell them about the incidents and I didn't either.

"Evi Di, can you feed me?" Vardaan asked and I gave a nod, pulling him on my lap.

I fed him parantha and he told me some incidents from his school, just then a few men walked in wearing black suits.

Next came a man wearing a grey suit.

"Aap kaun?" Maa asked.

"Hum Parag Kumar hai, Hukum Sa ke assistant. Hukum ne Shaadi ka niyota bheja hai aur Baisa ka joda bhi" He said keeping the box on the table.

"Humare yaha Sasural mein pehla niyota jata hai" Parag said and Maa handed him our Invitation.

"Har kisi ke yaha yeh rasam hoti hai Parag ji, Humari taraf se yeh de dijiyega" She said and invited him for tea.

He was about to take a seat but suddenly his eyes fell on me.

"Pranam Baisa" He wished and kept standing.

"Have a seat" I said but he shook his head in a No.

"Hum aise aapke saamne nahi baith sakte" He said and I rolled my eyes.

"Kyu?" I asked.

"Hone wali Rani Sa Hukum hai aap" He replied looking down.

"Aap nahi baithenge toh mujhe bura lagega" I said and finally he took a seat.

He had his tea but I bet he didn't look up once, that's too much respect.

"Pranam Baisa, hum chalte hai" He said getting up and joining his hands in respect.

"Ji" I said doing the same.

He left and suddenly I had a weird feeling inside me, I am going to be a part of someone's family.

"Evara, please try this! It's your wedding outfit" Maa said and I quickly wore the lehenga.

It's a Rajput Poshak and it's heavier than I thought it would be.

"You look so pretty" Maa said giving me a hug.

I had thought about my marriage but I was supposed to be happy.

Days passed and soon it was our engagement.

"It's time to exchange rings" Maa said handing me the ring I was supposed to give him.

We slid the rings in eachother's ring finger.
He never smiled and the same was with me.
