The Next Day....

"Momma!!!" Fatima calls through the house, "DADDY!!!"

"Baby Girl!!" A man yells coming from the steps,

Fatima drops her bags, "Daddy!" She yells back, doing a combo jump, jog to jump into her fathers arms,

"I've missed you so much Baby Girl." "I've missed you too Daddy." She mumbled, within their embrace.

He loosened his grip, "I see Atlanta's treating you nice." He hinted seeing the glow in his daughter's eyes.

"It is." Fatima smiled, going back to grab her bags, "I'm just here to visit," "Well that's no problem at all Baby Girl, you know your room is always available." "Thank you Daddy, but where's Momma?"

"Out with the girls." "Oh you mean Auntie Priscilla and Latrice." "Yup." "Well she'll be gone all day.." "Actually she won't." Her father chimed in.

"Huh?!." "Your grandmother fell and hurt her hip..." "Oh God..." "Yeah, so she's going by there to help out." "Oh I can do it." Fatima offered, "I mean unless you have something for me to do around here." "No I'm good." Her father reiterated, "I'm just working on my garden out in the back."

"How is your garden growing?" "Oh Baby Girl, you'll be so proud of your Dad, come on back and see before you get settled..."

Fatima smiles, "Ok." She said, placing her stuff on the couch with her suitcase next to it so that she could come back and get it when she was done.

She gets the backyard with her father, "Oh....MY....God..." "I know right." Her father said with a prideful smile in a Superman pose.

"Daddy, this is amazing..." "And it's been saving us a lot of money..." "I'm sure it has," Fatima retorted walking around, "You got tomatoes, cucumbers, Daddy is that a whole apple tree." "It's trying to be.." he laughed, "it's taking a little longer than I anticipated but yeah.."

"Awwweeee, a rose garden..." "That's for your mother..." he smiled lovingly, "I get to give her flowers everyday now."

"You're so sweet." "Thank you. So what's up with you and that other guy..." "Daddy, you know we're not together anymore..." "Just making sure." He winked, sitting in his lawn chair, as Fatima sat next to him.

"You know I never liked that nigga." "I know Daddy." She murmurs, "But I promise not to double back." "I hope you don't Baby Girl. I'm loving all things retirement and would hate to spend it in jail..." "I hear you..." she says, leaning back. "I saw him a couple of days ago..."

"Where?!" "At the airport when we were coming back from our girls trip, Riley is going out with his best friend and he came to pick them up. He tried to talk to me but Nicholas wasn't having it..."

Her father laughs, "That boy know he don't play when it comes to you and Mia..." "And don't." Fatima chuckled. "Daddy, Can I ask you something?" "Of course Baby Girl, what's up?"

"How did you know Momma was "the one"?" She asked.

"Honestly I didn't." He told her truthfully. "But after a while...I settled. Your mother was safe, consistent, honest, loyal, basically everything I didn't knew I needed."

He pauses thinking, "Baby Girl, I know niggas like Donovan because I was that nigga once. The shit he pulled with you I prayed that you would never have to go through but" he shrugs pausing, "Your mother took a chance on me and it changed my life...And I get it, you tried that with Donovan, however the difference between me and him is that nigga ain't trying to change...."

Fatima nods, "So no matter what...don't fall for nothing that can't be backed up with evidence a snake is a snake regardless..."

"I hear you Daddy." Fatima says getting up from her chair, she goes to give her father a hug, "Thank you..." "You're welcome Baby Girl..."
