I rested my hand on my chin. Admiring the ethereal clouds looming above the great hall and tilting my head slightly at it's beauty. After the craziness of the past couple of weeks, it's almost felt like I haven't had a minute to myself. All the parties, the workload, me and Enzo almost kissing and Mattheo being a death-eater? One more life-altering thing and i'd be sent straight back to the hospital wing. Fuck that, sign me up for a monthly subscription with Madame Pomfrey."Hello? Earth to Madison?" Pansy laughed, clicking her finger infront of my face whilst seemingly scoffing down her cereal like this was her last meal.
"Yeah, Uh-" I cleared my throat, turning to face her, "I spaced out, sorry."
Pansy furrowed an eyebrow at me, crossing her arms infront of her. "You've been acting off. Are you sure your memory didn't get wiped or something when you fell the other day?"
I smiled at her, shaking my head, "Yes, I'm fine. Just tired, that's all."
"If you say so..." She shrugged; digging the silver spoon into her cereal and placing it delicately into her mouth.
I turned my head to my right and noticed the boys basically strutting down the hall and closening toward both me and Pansy. I gulped at the sight of Lorenzo, who's light, brunette hair was looking extra messier than usual, with strands of hair just falling across his eyebrows. I smiled at Theo, Draco and Blaise, attempting to shield my gaze from Enzo in fear of sparking any unwanted attention and awkward conversations.
"How are we all?" Blaise said loudly, throwing his hands in the air almost triumphantly.
God, how does he have so much energy at such an early hour?
"Tired." Pansy yawned dramatically, placing her spoon into the cereal and basically gushing at Blaise. Hell, they might aswell just make out right now, infront of the entire table.
I took a sharp inhale upon taking notice of none other than Lorenzo Berkshire whom was now sitting directly opposite me. He sent me a short smirk and tilted his head lightly before biting the inside of his cheek.
Fuck. He knows what he does to me.
"Madison, are you feeling any better?" Draco asked, examining my face worriedly, "Are you even sure you should be going to class today?"
I laughed, rolling my eyes, "I'll be fine Draco. I'm better now."
"For his sake, you better be." He shook his head, "I swear to God, if I so much see Mattheo the slightest bit near you; he's going to have more than just a cut on the bridge of his nose."
I glanced at the end of the Slytherin table. Taking notice of Mattheo who had his head down, hair strands falling in front of his forehead so I couldn't see his face. He was sat alone. My heart almost broke for him, he didn't deserve this; I just didn't know how to convince the others that he was innocent without revealing that he was a death eater.
"Can you guys try to forgive him?" I sighed, "The group feels off without him."
Lorenzo clenched his jaw; shaking his head at me. "If he wants me to forgive him, then he'd have to beg over my grave."
"Enz-" I spoke, before stopping myself and scratching my neck. "Lorenzo."
"What?" He scoffed, "I don't know why you feel the slightest bit of sympathy for that asshole."
"What so you've never made any stupid decisions whilst you were drunk?" I spat back, my eyes meeting his for the first time.
"Yes, but never a decision stupid enough to hurt you." He replied sternly, rolling his tongue across his cheek.
Silence filled the table, the only audible sound was the clashing of knives and forks scraping and cutting against the groups breakfast. I immediately broke eye contact and looked down to the carefully crafted wooden table. He makes a good point; but I wish he could of seen how sincere Mattheos apology was back at the dorms, how the tears formed in his eyes, how his heart sat heavy and how helplessness lingered the air like a perfume scent in the cold breeze.
"He's right Madison." Theo spoke, scratching his head, "I mean he didn't even visit you when you were in the hospital wing."
"Yeah b-." I began, scratching my arm awkwardly.
"Lorenzo visited you in the hospital wing did he not?" Draco spoke, "It's not a hard thing to do."
The sudden memory of the complete and utter tension between me and Lorenzo came rushing into my brain. The way our lips hovered centimetres away from eachother, the way I could feel his breath on my face, the way his eyes looked down on me with such passion and danger. I shivered, but my body was overheating.
"Yes, he did." I gulped.
"I'm curious about that." Pansy smiled, placing her hand on her cheek innocently "What did you guys talk about?"
I looked to Enzo, our eyes met and a sudden look of worry lingered in our faces. My breath hitched at the sight of him rolling his sleeves up; making his biceps and hands more visible, clearly teasing me discretely.
"I told you." I smiled, "I woke up and he was there, he asked me if I was okay and then you guys walked in."
"That's convenient." Pansy smirked innocently.
"I don't know what your talking about." I exhaled, brushing dust off of my robes.
"I was merely curious." Pansy sighed, "Gosh you guys are no fun. You need to find a boyfriend Madison."
"That won't be happening anytime soon." I laughed; my heart almost ripping from the idea of lying straight to Pansys face.
"Yeah, and if you do get a boyfriend..." Draco cleared his throat, turning toward me, "The last person you'll be dating is my best friend."
"I second that!" I laughed awkwardly, taking a sip of my pumpkin juice like it was a shot of alcohol.
Lorenzo's eyebrows raised slightly. I could tell he was amused by my lack of skill to lie straight to everyone's faces. I don't know why he was so okay with the idea of Draco finding out.
"I'm gonna go-" I coughed, "I've got potions class to attend to."
I began packing up my bags in attempt to make a swift getaway, still avoiding eye contact with Lorenzo.
"Classes don't start for another ho-" Blaise began.
"Bye!" I exclaimed, practically skipping down the rows and out of the hall.
