"No ! I love Samantha I rather die with her than to live in a world without her" Mariah's voice rings out clear and strong, her eyes locked on Samantha's. "I love Samantha, and I won't deny it. She is my heart, my soul, my everything. I would rather die with her than live in a world without her." She said repeatedly .
The villagers gasp in shock, their faces filled with horror and disgust. Mariah's mother screams, "No, Mariah, don't say such things! You're being deceived by the devil!" But Mariah stands tall, her eyes flashing with defiance. "I'm not being deceived, Mother. I know what I feel, and I won't be swayed. Samantha is my love, and I won't betray her."
Samantha's face is filled with tears, her eyes shining with love and gratitude. "Mariah, my love, my heart," she whispers. The priest's face is dark with anger, his eyes blazing with condemnation. "You are both lost souls, consumed by the devil's work. You will burn in hell for your sins."
Frederickson, watching from the shadows, feels his heart shatter into a thousand pieces. He knows that he cannot change the past, but he vows to make sure that those responsible for this injustice will pay in the future. He will not rest until Edward James, Rodriguez, John, the priest and every villager present are brought to justice for their crimes in every lifetime."
Back to the present
Detective D and Samuel stood frozen, their eyes adjusting slowly to the darkness. The sudden blackout seemed to reverberate through the empty church, amplifying the sense of foreboding.
"Well, this is not good," Samuel whispered, his voice barely audible. Detective D drew his gun, his eyes scanning the darkness. "Stay close, Samuel. We need to get out of here, now."
As they moved cautiously towards the door, the darkness seemed to thicken, like a palpable presence. Suddenly, a faint whispering echoed through the church, the words indistinguishable but the malevolent intent clear."Run," Detective D whispered, grabbing Samuel's arm. "Now." "Why are you running?"
A voice laughed out loud, the voice, echoing off the church walls, seemed to come from all directions at once. "You can't escape the truth," it taunted. "You can't escape me."
Detective D and Samuel burst through the door, into the bright sunlight. But the voice followed them, its laughter echoing off the buildings."You'll never uncover the secrets of Mystic Shadow," it jeered. "You'll never uncover the truth about Mariah and Samantha."
" What " Detective D spun around, scanning the street, but there was no one in sight. The voice seemed to come from all around them, echoing off the buildings. "Who are you?" Detective D shouted. "Show yourself!". But the voice just laughed again, the sound fading away into the distance.
Tell us what you know about Mariah Carey and Samantha. Dectective D asked the voice...is that you Pedro or is it you Fredrickson.
The voice chuckled, the sound sending shivers down their spines. "Ah, Detective D, you're getting close. For now my identity doesn't matter but m someone who knows the truth. Mariah Carey and Samantha, their love was pure, but fate was not on their side."
The voice paused, as if collecting thoughts. "Mariah Carey was indeed in love with Frederickson, but Samantha...Samantha was her true heart's desire. They were torn apart by the prejudices of their time, and their love was doomed from the start."
Detective D's eyes narrowed. "What happened in this church, years ago?"
The voice's tone turned somber. "A tragedy, Detective. A tragedy that has haunted Mystic Shadow for centuries. Mariah and Samantha were condemned, accused of witchcraft...and executed." Samuel gasped, his eyes wide with horror. "Executed?"
The voice's whisper grew fainter. "Yes...their love was deemed a sin, and they paid the ultimate price. But the Fredicksons.. his spirit remain, trapped in Mystic Shadow, seeking justice..."
Detective D's eyes blazed with determination. "What do you mean, the Fredicksons' spirit remains? What justice is he seeking?"
The voice's whisper grew fainter, the words barely audible. "Frederickson's spirit...trapped between worlds...seeking revenge...against those who wronged him...and the ones he loved." Suddenly, the church doors slammed shut, and the darkness was complete. Detective D and Samuel were trapped, surrounded by an eerie silence.
"Welcome to Mystic Shadow," the voice whispered, the words echoing in their minds. "Where the past and present collide...and justice always is yet to be served right."
"I m Pedro why are you looking for me" a voice echoed, Detective D and Samuel spun around, their eyes fixed on the figure standing in the church doorway. Pedro's eyes gleamed with a knowing intensity, his voice low and mysterious.
"I've been waiting for you, Detective," Pedro said, his gaze piercing. "You're seeking answers, but are you prepared for the truth?"
Detective D's hand instinctively went to his gun, his mind racing with questions. "What do you know about Mariah Carey and Samantha? What happened in this church all those years ago ? and why is everything connected to that psychiatrist hospital hmm?
Pedro's smile was enigmatic. "Ah, the tragic tale of star-crossed lovers. But that's just the beginning. You see, Detective, Mystic Shadow has a way of repeating its secrets...and its sins." Samuel's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?"
Pedro's gaze seemed to bore into their souls. "The past is not just a memory, my friends. It's a warning. And if you're not careful, you'll become the latest chapter in Mystic Shadow's dark history." "You are to follow us to the station for questioning Mr Pedro," Samuel said bring out the handcuffs, Pedro's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Ah, Detective, I've been expecting this. Very well, let us go...but be warned, the truth I reveal may be more than you can handle."
With a flourish, Pedro offered his arm, inviting Detective D and Samuel to lead the way. As they exited the church, the darkness seemed to swirl around them, like a living entity. The air was heavy with anticipation, and the silence was oppressive, punctuated only by the sound of their footsteps.
As they walked, Pedro's eyes seemed to gleam with a knowing intensity, as if he held secrets that would shake the very foundations of Mystic Shadow. Detective D's mind raced with questions, but he knew that the truth was only just beginning to unravel.
