"You are right Detective D" Samuel spoked "let met with Dr Marcelo and check how Mr Edwards James is doing" "It's worth a shot," Detective D said. "Let's go see what Dr. Marcelo has to say and maybe we can talk to Mr. James as well. He might have some insights into what's going on here."
They headed to the hospital, hoping to get some answers. When they arrived, they found Dr. Marcelo in his office, looking over some files. He looked up as they entered. "Good morning, Detective D," he said, a hint of trepidation in his voice. "What can I do for you?"
"We are here to ask you few more questions, if you don't mind Dr Marcelo and probably check on Edward James and see if he is okay" Detective D explained "Of course, I'd be happy to answer your questions," Dr. Marcelo said, though his expression was still a bit wary. "And I can certainly take you to see Mr. James. He's doing much better now, but he's still quite shaken up. Please be gentle with him."
Detective D and Samuel followed Dr. Marcelo down the hall to Mr. James' room. The man was sitting up in bed, his face pale and drawn. "Hello, Mr. James," Dr. Marcelo said. "These gentlemen are here to speak with you." "Good morning Detective D" Edward said, trying to stand up slowly from the hospital bed "thanks for saving my life yesterday how may I ever repay you" "You don't need to repay me, Mr. James," Detective D said with a reassuring smile. "I was just doing my job. But I am glad you're feeling better."
"Thank you," Mr. James said, looking a bit sheepish. "I know I'm not your top priority, but I do appreciate everything you've done. Can I ask you some questions?" "Of course," Detective D replied. "I'm happy to answer any questions you have. What's on your mind?" "You know what Detective D I will hold on, what can I help you with "
"We're trying to get a better understanding of what happened to you and the other patients who went missing," Detective D explained. "Can you tell us anything about what you experienced while you were missing?" Mr. James' face grew pale and he looked down at his hands, fidgeting with the blanket. "I'm not sure what I can tell you," he said, his voice shaking. "It's all a bit of a blur. All I remember is waking up in my house tied up in chains"
"That's okay," Detective D said, trying to put the man at ease. "Take your time" Samuel look at Edward suspiciously "I truly hope you not hidding anything from Detective D" Samuel spoked with a hint of doubt in his voice, Mr. James' eyes widened at Samuel's words, and he looked between the detective and his assistant, his face pale. "I-I'm not hiding anything," he stammered. "I just don't remember much. I'm sorry."
"It's okay, Mr. James," Detective D said, cutting off Samuel before he could say anything else. "We just want to make sure we have all the information we need. If you remember anything else, please let us know."Mr. James nodded, looking relieved. "Thank you," he said. "I'll do my best."
"I don't believe him Detective D I know he is hidding something" Samuel whispered into Detective D's ears, Detective D sighed, putting a hand on Samuel's shoulder. "I know you're just trying to help, but I need you to trust me on this," he said, his voice firm. "I have a way of getting people to open up, and I need you to let me do my job. Do you understand?"
Samuel looked at him, his face a mixture of frustration and concern. "Yes, sir," he said, his voice reluctant. "I just want to help catch whoever did this." Detective D nodded. "I know, and I appreciate your enthusiasm," he said. "But right now we have to be patient" "Let's take things one step at a time," Detective D said, now addressing both Samuel and Mr. James. "Let's start with the basics. Can you tell me about the last time you remember seeing one of the other patients who went missing?"
Mr. James looked thoughtful and then a small spark of recognition lit up his eyes. "I think I remember seeing Ms. Williams the day before she disappeared," he said. "We were in the cafeteria, and she was sitting alone, looking a bit upset. I remember thinking that it was odd, because she's usually so cheerful."
"That's a start," "Who is Mrs Williams " Detective D asked "Ms. Williams was one of the other patients who went missing," Mr. James explained. "She was a sweet woman in her 60s and she always had a smile on her face. We would talk sometimes in the cafeteria and she would tell me stories about her grandchildren. I always looked forward to our chats."
Detective D nodded, taking notes as Mr. James spoke. "And do you know if anyone else noticed that she was acting upset that day?" he asked. "I'm not sure," Mr. James said, his brow furrowed in thought. "What do you know about Miss Samantha McCarthy" Samuel said with a hint of frustration
"You mean the woman who always volunteer here?" Mr. James asked, "yes she is dead" Dectective D explained, james eyes widening in shock. "I can't believe it. I knew she was close with Dr. Marcelo, but I never would have thought something like this could happen." "Did you know her well?" Detective D asked, noting the man's reaction.
"I wouldn't say I knew her well, but I saw her around the hospital a lot," Mr. James replied. "She was always friendly, and I always got the impression that she really cared about the patients here. She seemed like a really good person."
"So you mentioned earlier that Dr Marcelo knew Samantha !"" Detective D said "Yes, they were quite close," Mr. James replied. "Dr. Marcelo always spoke highly of her and he seemed to trust her with a lot of things. I know that she was involved in a lot of the behind-the-scenes work at the hospital and she seemed to have a real knack for organization and planning. I think she was an invaluable part of the hospital"
"How long had she been coming to at  hospital?" Detective D asked, feeling a sense of urgency building in his chest. "She had been here for months" Mr. James said. "I'm not sure exactly how long" "so in a way every victims are somehow connected to this hospital, I wonder if the doctor knows Rodriguez " Samuel spoke curiously. "That's an interesting connection," Detective D said, nodding thoughtfully.
"Ahh it's true that Dr. Marcelo and Rodriguez both worked here. But that doesn't necessarily mean they knew each other. What makes you think they might have been connected?". "Well, it's just a hunch," Samuel said, shrugging. "but I can't help but wonder if maybe Dr. Marcelo knew something about Rodriguez that we don't. And if he did, it might help us understand what's going on here."
"That's certainly possible," Detective D said, his mind racing. "But for now, Mr James do you know anyone bearing the name Fredrickson " Detective asked finally.
"The name Fredrickson does sound familiar," Mr. James said, his brow furrowed in thought. "I think I might have seen it on a file or two when I was helping out in the office. But I'm not sure who it was. Why do you ask?"
"Just trying to get a sense of who might have had contact with the victims," Detective D said, choosing his words carefully. "It could be an important piece of the puzzle." "I understand," Mr. James said, looking concerned. "Do you think there's a serial killer targeting people connected to the hospital?"
Noticing the movement of Edward, Detective D could tell he was lying, "you don't have to be afraid of the Fredrickson fellow " Detective D spoke, reassuring him it safe , Mr. James took a deep breath, looking relieved. "I appreciate your reassurance, Detective D," he said, his voice still a bit shaky. "But I'm not sure why you think I'm afraid of this Fredrickson person. I really don't know anything about them"
"You don't have to lie to me, Mr. James," Detective D said, his voice gentle but firm. "I can tell you're hiding something, and I just want to know what it is. Whatever it is, it could be important to the case. Please, just tell me the truth."
