Chaper 3 - To Texas We Go

My dad pulled my luggage out of the trunk. "You know sweetheart, at any point you want to come home early you can switch your tickets" he is so worried something will happen. "Dad, I'll be fine. I'll buy something for protection as soon as I get there. I promise. I already have the door lock you gave me for the hotel room." "Dear, you need to not worry about her. She's an adult who knows how to handle herself in bad situations." My mom tries to reassure my dad as they take me to the airline counter. I hug both my parents "I'll see you guys in a week. Okay? A week. Don't go changing my room and buying a new car while I'm gone. Got it?" I say laughing. "Please, just stay safe. Call us if anything happens. Okay? Get going kiddo" my dad says, kissing my forehead. I turn around and start walking to check in my luggage. Turning around, waving and blowing kisses to my parents. After checking in I walked to my gate, waiting for the plane to be called. I decided to stop at Tim Hortons for a coffee. After ordering I start to walk to my gate.

I pull out my phone and watch the latest Grizzy video, the whole group is back into Roblox lately. Near the end of the video I hear them call my plane to board. I'm near the middle to end of the line. So at least it won't be awkward putting my bag into the overhead and people waiting for me. I get to my seat, and noticed I have the window seat but someone is sitting in the middle. I pull out my headphones "uhm I'm sorry, I'm in the window seat, are you able to step out so I can sit down?" The person looks up, noticing they look familiar "oh yeah of course." I couldn't put my finger on who they were. After sitting down and the familiar face sitting back down I apologize. "I'm sorry, I should've gotten in line faster so you didn't have to move to let me sit" the man turns back to me "No no, don't worry about it. Planes are awkward and tight, I'd be more concerned if you didn't ask" he said laughing. I put in my headphones and start watching some Pezzy YouTube videos I saved to my phone for the flight.

Halfway through the second saved video, the familiar face looked over at my phone sitting on the seat tray. He laughed and said "So you're a pezzy frog huh?" I pause my video, it finally clicking. "Oh my god. I didn't even put it together. I'm so sorry. You're Rectrixx. Oh my god, I'm so stupid. I'm not a creepy fan, I promise." Out of all the people on the plane, all the people in the world. And I'm sat next to Rectrixx, and I didn't even recognize him. And here I am watching his friend's videos laughing to myself. "Nah you're fine. Id be more offended if I mentioned something, and you didn't know who I am" laughing at me. "I mean, I've watched your content and your streams. Your XDefiant streams were hilarious. Your MindMeld series is amazing." The streamer started laughing "Thank you, whats your name?" "Annalise, no one calls me any nicknames because they all sound weird and 'Anna' by itself reminds me of old ladies talking to me" I say awkwardly. "I can get behind that. Well, it's nice to meet you Annalise. what's your username on X? I can follow you?" I just stared at him "follow me? Uh yeah yeah absolutely" I gave him my username "it's the same across all social media, it's not hard to forget" laughing embarrassingly. "Well once the plane lands I'll follow you. So, what're you doing flying to Texas?" He seemed interested in what I had to say. "Oh, I'm doing a week vacation. I just graduated, so I'm going to see if it's worth moving there to start my life or not." I say while he nods his head "Well the weather is better than Canada, until tornado season" he says "oh I bet. But it's better than snow being taller than me...wait why are you going to Texas?" Realizing the conversation has been leaning towards me, I didn't want to make myself seem to selfish. "Im also on vacation. I'm staying for two weeks to see the guys and shoot content." He says pointing at the Pezzy video on my phone. "Wow, that must be interesting. I mean, seeing them in real life and being friends with them. Sorry, I'm probably bothering you talking about all this. I'm gonna go back to my video" I say trying to be polite. "Oh you're okay, it was nice talking to someone who isn't crazy. Enjoy the video" I put in my headphones and press play. Giddy about meeting someone so close to my favourite streamer.
