Chapter 18 - You're Safe

I woke up around 7 and started getting ready, taking a quick shower and putting on some shorts and an oversized t-shirt. By the time I was ready it was 8:30. I quickly called my parents, my dad answering the phone. "Hey A, how's it going?" "Morning dad, figured I give a quick call to check in. See how you and mom are." "Oh we're good, nothing new with us. Your mom is currently making bread dough." "Bread dough? She knows how to make bread dough?" I laugh. "Well not exactly. But she's trying. She misses you. Hold on I'll put you on speaker....okay kiddo she can hear you." "Hi mom! I heard you're making bread dough?" "Oh hi dear! Yeah, I've never had such an arm work out. How are things?" "Everything is good, I hung out with the guys a couple nights ago, Max and I talked and I think things are good between us again. Him and I are actually going to a cafe in a bit to do work together. I finally can access my school stuff." "Oh that's good sweetie, just don't forget that he hurt you. You might be giving him a second chance, but keep your guard up." "I know mom. But I got to go, Max just pulled into the driveway. I'll talk to guys soon, okay? Love you both!" I hung up, grab my book bag and ran downstairs, locking the door behind me. I got in the car, putting my bag in the backseat. "Morning, ready to go get some work done?" I say while putting my seatbelt on. "You darn skippy I am." Max laughs as he pulls out of the driveway.

We drove to a random cafe downtown. "Here, what would you like? I'll order while you grab a table for us." Max said while looking at the menu. "Of course, I'll get an iced latte and a cheese biscuit with butter. Here, give me your bag." I say grabbing his bag, and heading to find a table. I chose one near the window at the front of the cafe. Max joined me a couple minutes later, putting our drinks and food on the table. "Ready to feel so accomplished?" "Oh you bet. I can't wait to start the first class, it's about scene writing." I say while taking a sip of my drink. "Oh wow, get to it then." We both opened our laptops and started working away. We worked for a solid three hours. I was able to complete the first block and started the first assignment. "I think I'm worked out for today, at least for now. Do you want another drink? I think I'm gonna get one to go." I say while putting my laptop away. "Oh no I'm okay, but could you get me a croissant?" "Of course. Watch my stuff?" I ask while standing up and heading to the counter. I ordered and payed, and went to the far counter, waiting for my drink and croissant. The man behind me following shortly after. "Beautiful day out today." He said finally reaching the counter. "Yep. It is." I nod my head. "My names Christian, and yours?" He says going on the side of me closer to the door. "Sorry, not interested. Have a good day though." "We could get out of here and go see a movie or something." He says getting closer to my side. I moved a couple steps away. "Excuse you, leave me alone. Thank you." "Oh come on, beautiful. I'm just merely trying to get your number. I could take you out sometime." He says getting closer to me once again. Max walked up, putting himself between us. "That's funny, she said she wasn't interested. Have a good one." "Dude, you're interrupting our conversation. Back off, this one's mine." He says while stepping in front of Max to get closer to me. "No, actually. She's my girlfriend. Now, have a nice day." Max says while putting his arm around my waist, pulling me close. "Pfft yeah right. Looks like a whore to me. Whatever man." He walks away to wait for his order somewhere else. I wait another minute before they put out my order. I quickly grab it and Max and I head back to the car.

We get into the car, both silent the walk back. "So, girlfriend huh?" I slightly laugh. "Yes, girlfriend. Or did you miss the part where I stood in a downpour with you at 2am?" He laughed. "Gotcha. So, what did you accomplish while working there?" "I sent off some emails for an upcoming sponsorship, and messaged back some creators that want to do collabs. I'm surprised that a couple of them want to play together. Means big things are coming." He says pulling up to the red light. "So am I taking you back to Grizzys, or do you want to come over?" "Hmm. Grizzy or Sly... definitely Sly." I laughed. "Oh I see, you wanna see my cat. I'll just be in my office hiding I guess." He says causing both of us to laugh.
