Chapter 17 - I Don't Think I Want To Move On

The rest of the night flew by, we all ended up pretty drunk after playing board games. We all decided to settle down, and put on a movie. "I think after this movie, I'm going to get an uber. The room is starting to spin" Puffer says while holding his head. "Yeah I agree, Annalise you wanna come back with me?" Grizzy asks. "Yeah, that sounds fine." I say. We finished the movie, but Puffer was asleep on the couch, and Grizzy was asleep on the floor. Droid gets them blankets, I help him cover the guys and the three of us head to the kitchen. "Thanks for having everyone over, Droid. It was nice to hangout with you guys in real life again." I say while cleaning up the empty alcohol cans and bottles. "It was nice having you join us, so. Are you back in Texas? Where are you staying?" Droid asks. "Yes I'm back, as a citizen. I'm staying with Grizzy at the moment. And I move into my own place next week." The guys both light up. "That's amazing, where is it?" Pezzy asks. "It's near Puffers, I think? I don't know, I'm still trying to figure out areas" I laugh Droid calls it a night, and heads upstairs. Pezzy and I decided we might as well crash for the night at Droids. We ended up in the backyard, sitting on the concrete.

"So, you're staying at Grizzys?" He asks. "Yeah, he offered for me to stay with him. It was nice of him." I say nodding my head. "At least you're someplace safe. You could be at a hotel again." He laughs lightly. "Yeah I guess. He was really nice about letting me stay." I say looking at the sky. "The offer still stands, you know. To stay at my place..if you want." He says ripping me from my thoughts. "Thank you, but no thank you. I put myself together back together after your mistake. Droid and Grizzy were there for me. I'm not going to put myself in that situation again. I hope you understand." "Annalise, please. It was a mistake. She literally wasn't even in the house for more than half a day. And she didn't even stay after what she said. Please, forgive me." "I can't, I'm sorry. I mean, who allows their ex into their house when they have a girlfriend. I cannot put myself through this." Just as I said that it started raining. We both just sat there, listening to the rain hit the overhanging roof. "I guess I messed this up, huh." He says hanging his head. "Yeah, yeah you did." I say standing up, walking into the rain.

I put my arms out, letting the rain hitting every part of my body. Max just sitting there watching me. "You know, I dreamed of knowing you and being with you. And then I had you. And then you messed up. I feel like part of me is telling me to not hate you, that you deserve a second chance if you really mean it when you say that she wasn't there for long. But the other part of me is saying you've lost your chance and it's time to move on. But I don't think I want to move on. Because then every time I'm with the guys, you're there. And it would constantly be a reminder about everything. But I can get past this, just like I got past Jared. I don't care if people try to tear us apart. I don't care if people online think or know we're together. I don't care if people hate me. I know what I want, and that's you. And if you want to be with me, or to just be friends. I'm fine with either. Just.. please, Max. Don't tear my heart up again." I say getting soaked by the rain. Max stood up, and walked into the rain towards me, stopping in front of me, grabbing my hands. "Annalise, I've dreamed of this moment since you left me. I didn't think any of the dreams included standing in the rain in Droids backyard though." He laughed as he put his arms around my waist, pulling me in for a kiss.

We sat down on the concrete, talking about random things. "Oh, I start my classes next week, right after I move in. Which is exciting. I can't wait." "Yeah that's right, maybe you could even come over and I can help you." We both laughed. "Help me? What to learn how to not laugh during scenes or how to evolve a script from the bare minimum? Everything would be horror." I smiled. We sat there the whole night, the sun was finally starting to come up. "We should probably head inside.. the guys should be awake in a couple hours and we should get some sleep." Max says while standing. "Can I ask you a question, before we head inside?" "Yeah, what's up?" "When she showed up, what was the first thought that ran through your mind?" It went silent for what felt like eternity. "Honestly. Pain. Part of me was hoping it was you knocking on my door. And then seeing her, bringing back the memories of all the pain and suffering. But I felt like I had to, I mean I couldn't turn her away. I don't even know how she found where I lived. But as soon as she interrupted the game night, she was gone. I don't know or care where she went. It made me lose you, and that hurt even more than seeing her." He said holding my hands. "You don't need to explain more, I'm here now and I know I'll be able to trust you." We hugged for what felt like a really long time. We headed inside to try to get a bit of sleep before the guys eventually started waking up. I ended up sleeping in the other couch while Max slept in a chair.
